TURLOCK, Calif. – The Warriors took Northwest Nazarene the distance, as a 7th inning run by the Nighthawks sealed the deal on their 2023 Tournament of Champions debut.
SCORING SUMMARY: Stan State gave up their only run of the day in the final inning of competition on an unfortunate throwing error to third base to secure the win in the final Thursday night game of two. The Nighthawks outhit the home team 8-4, with the Warriors leaving a total of six runners on base throughout the matchup.
DEFENSIVE EFFORTS: The Warriors and Nighthawks went fairly even on the defensive side, putting out 21 total batters each with one error to their line score.
Mikaela Ferreira earned the most putouts at the shortstop spot with five, while
Madison Flexser led the way with two assists at second base.
CONSISTENCY IS KEY: Victoria Alarcon started off the game hot with three-straight strikeouts to begin the top of the 1st inning, and would continue that streak with four-straight innings with at least one strikeout. She would finish the game with seven strikeouts, nine forceouts, and three ground outs.
