Stan State will begin a four match road trip in Southern California

Volleyball to Begin Four-Match Trip with A Pair of Matches in Southern California

TURLOCK, Calif.---  Stan State's volleyball team will commence on a four-match road trip this weekend with a pair of matches in Southern California.  The Warriors will travel to Pomona, Calif., this Friday, September 29 to face No. 14 Cal Poly Pomona.  Stan State will finish off its weekend in San Marcos, Calif., for a match with Cal State San Marcos on Saturday, September 30. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 3pm.  
 
RECAP OF WEEKEND:  Stan State split its two home conference matches this past weekend losing in five to Cal Poly Humboldt on Friday and sweeping Sonoma State in five on Saturday afternoon.  Sonoma State was receiving votes in the AVCA/NCAA Division II National Poll.  The Warriors lost in five to Humboldt on Friday (21-25, 25-20, 19-25, 25-23, 11-15) despite Gabby Rawson's season high 30 digs.  Mariah Iosua had a double-double with 10 kills and 18 digs. Emily Vander Weide had a team leading 12 kills to go with Haley Burdo's 34 assists.  The Warriors rebounded on Saturday with a three-set sweep of Sonoma State (25-16-, 25-18, 25-22) behind Eyriana Eatmon's seven service aces.  Iosua had another double-double with 13 kills and 10 digs.  
 
UPDATE ON THE WARRIORS:  Stan State is 6-6 overall and 1-3 in the CCAA.  Mariah Iosua leads the team with her 111 kills while Gabby Rawson had a team leading 259 digs.  Haley Burdo lead Stan State with her 234 assists with Eyriana Eatmon adding 155 assists.  Eatmon leads the Warriors with her 23 service aces while Autumn Kirby has 15 and Iosua 14.  Alex Byrd leads the team with her 53 total blocks and Kirby has 36.  
 
HEAD COACH LAUREN FLOWERS:  In her first season in 2022 at the helm of the Warrior volleyball team became Stan State's all-time winningest team with its .655 winning percentage. The Warriors finished with a 19-10 overall record with the 19 wins tying for the most in school history.  They finished in sixth place and qualified for the CCAA Volleyball Championships.  In her two seasons, Flowers is 25-16. With the Warriors' win over then No. 21 Alaska Anchorage in the Denali State Bank Ice Block Classic, Flowers has guided Stan State so three victories over top 25 teams.  In 2022, the Warriors defeated then No. 25 Winona State (3-0 in Carson) and No. 13 Cal State San Bernardino (3-2 in Turlock).
 
MOVIN' ON UP:  Haley Burdo is seventh with 105 service aces and eighth with 1376 assists on Stan State's top ten career list.  Alex Byrd is eighth on the Warriors' all-time solo block career list with 39. Gabby Rawson is eighth with 842 career digs. 
 
RANKED NATIONALLY:  Gabby Rawson is sixth in the nation with her 5.89 digs per set average and tenth with her 259 total digs.
 
DOUBLE-DOUBLES: Four Warriors have recorded double-doubles in Haley Burdo, Eyriana Eatmon, Mariah Iosua, and Ellison Weaver.  Eatmon has twelve double-doubles in her career and one this season at Stan State while Burdo (26 career, two season), Ellison Weaver (five career, one season), and Iosua (four career, three season).  

HONORS:  Emily Vander Weide was named to the seven-team Stanislaus State Labor Day Volleyball Tournament. For the third time in her career, Gabby Rawson was named the CCAA Defensive Player of the Week for the week of August 28-September 3 and the week of September 4-10. She has been named the Defensive Player of the Week five times during her career as a Warrior.  Rawson was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Denali State Bank Ice Block Classic in Alaska.
 
AMONGST THE CONFERENCE LEADERS:  Gabby Rawson leads the CCAA with her 5.89 digs per set average and 259 total digs.  Haley Burdo is ninth in the conference with her 234 total assists and 5.20 assists per set average. Alex Byrd is first with 53 total blocks and second with her 1.19 blocks per set average.  Eyriana Eatmon leads the CCAA with her 0.51 aces per set average and tied for first with her 21 service aces.
 
NATION'S LEADERS:  Gabby Rawson is eighth with her 5.89 digs per set average and 15th with her 212 total digs.  Alex Byrd is 29th with her 44 total blocks heading into this week.
 
UPDATE ON THE NO. 14 BRONCOS:  Cal Poly Pomona is 11-1 overall and 4-0 in the CCAA after sweeping Cal State Los Angeles and Cal State Dominguez Hills this weekend at home.  The Broncos only loss was three-set loss to Chaminade University.  Samantha Capion leads the Broncs with her 164 kills.  Caitie Mueller has a team leading 422 assists while Jenna O'Shea has recorded a team high 18 service aces.  Avery Percival leads CPP with her 149 digs and Alexia Athans has a team leading 35 total blocks.  
 
ALL-TIME SERIES:  Cal Poly Pomona leads the all-time series 17-6 including winning four of the last meetings with the Warriors.  The Broncos won in four sets in the first round of the CCAA's last season despite Autumn Kirby's six blocks and nine kills.  Stan State lost in four sets to the Broncos in Turlock on Oct. 14, 2022, with Ellison Weaver leading the team with her 14 kills.  The last Warrior victory over Cal Poly Pomona was a 3-0 victory in Pomona on Nov. 15, 2019, as Eyriana Eatmon had 20 assists and 11 digs to lead Stan State.  
 
UPDATE ON THE COUGARS:  Cal State San Marcos is 4-8 overall and 2-2 in the CCAA entering its match on Friday with Chico State.  The Cougars went 0-2 last weekend losing in five to Cal State Dominguez Hills and in three to Cal State Los Angeles.  Trinity Barr leads the team with her 156 kills while Tori Goff has a team high 419 assists.  Goff leads the Cougars with her 23 service aces and Mia Christensen has a team high 166 digs.  Mackenzie Jennings has a team high 31 blocks followed by Isabelle Bakken with 29.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES:  Cal State San Marcos leads the all-time series with the Warriors 7-4.  Stan State defeated the Cougars in five in San Marcos on Oct. 22, 2022, behind Ellison Weaver with 16 kills and Autumn Kirby with 10 blocks. Haley Burdo had 31 assists to go with Gabby Rawson's 31 digs.  The Warriors lost in four to the Cougars in Turlock on Sept. 22, 2022. Despite Rawson's 22 digs.
