Men’s Golf Finishes Fall Season with Third Place Finish at Southwest Airlines/HPU Shark Shootout

WAIKOLOA, HI.---  Stan State finished its fall season with a third-place finish at the 19-team Southwest Airlines/HPU Shark Shootout in Waikoloa, Hawai'i.  The Warriors shot a 13-under par 547 (276-271) to finish in third place at the par-70 Waikoloa Beach Golf Resort.  Chris Chomyn shot a six-under par 134 (71-63) to finish in third place, four strokes behind individual medalist Adam Duncan's (Colorado Christian) 130 (-10).  No. 1 Colorado Christian captured the team title with its 28-under par 532 (264-268).

WARRIORS:  Chris Chomyn finished the 36-hole tournament with a six-under par 134 to finish in third place.  He shot a one-over par 71 on Friday and came back to shoot a seven-under par 63 this morning to finish with a 134.  Finishing two strokes behind Chomyn was Ricky Sullivan. The sophomore transfer shot a four-under par 136 (67-69) to finish tied for ninth place.  One stroke behind Sullivan was Jack Peters with his three-under par 137 (67-70) to finish tied for 13th place.  Chase Bird shot a one-over par 141 (72-69) to finish in a tie for 29th place.  Finishing with a four-over par 145 (71-74) was Nate Jetton to finish tied for 57th place. 

TOP FIVE TEAMS:  Capturing the team title at the Southwest Airlines/HPU Shark Shootout was No. 1 Colorado Christian with its 28-under par 532 (264-268).  No. 9 Cal State East Bay finished in second place with its 16-under par 544 (261-283) followed by the Warriors with their 13-under par 547 (276-271).  No. 17 Colorado Mesa was fourth with its eight-under par 552 (276-276) followed by Hawai'i Hilo with an even par 560 (284-276). 

TOP FIVE INDIVIDUALS:  Colorado Christian's Adam Duncan captured individual medalist honors with his ten-under par 130 (64-66) followed by his teammate, Sangha Park, with a 133 (seven-under par).  One stroke behind Park was the Warriors' Chris Chomyn with a six-under par 134 (71-63).  Finishing tied for fourth place was a pair of Cal State East Bay Pioneers each with a five-under par 135 in Adam Brangefelt and Easton Hether.

SPRING SEASON:  The complete Spring 2025 schedule will be announced in December.  Stan State will host the 50th Annual Hanny Stanislaus Invitational, April 14-15, at Turlock Golf & Country Club in Turlock, Calif. The 2024-25 CCAA Men's Golf Championships at the Sandpiper Golf Club in Santa Barbara, Calif.  This year's NCAA Division II West/South Central Regional will be hosted by The Victoria Club in Riverside, Calif., May 8-10.  The PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., will host the NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships, May 19-25.
