HAYWARD, Calif.--- As announced today at the 2024 CCAA Men's Soccer Tournament, four Stan State Warriors were named to the All-CCAA Men's Soccer Team. These four are
Edgar Castaneda,
Alecxander Cuellar,
Angel Ruiz-Hernandez, and
Sammy Villanueva. Stan State, under the guidance of second year head coach
John Powell, finished the season with a 7-6-5 overall record which was its first winning season since 2015.
All four Warriors were named to the Honorable Mention Team as voted on by the conference's head coaches. 2024 CCAA Individual Awards went to

Forward of the Year: Mikey McKibbin (Cal State Dominguez Hills)
Midfielder of the Year: Brian Castillo (Cal State San Bernardino)
Defender of the Year: Andrew Portis (Cal State Los Angeles)
Goalkeeper of the Year: Emmanuel Padilla (Chico State)
Newcomer of the Year: Hunter George (Cal State San Bernardino)
Freshman of the Year: Gavin Brummer (Cal State Dominguez Hills)
Coach of the Year: Matt O'Sullivan (Cal Poly Pomona)
Castaneda started in 17 of the Warriors' 18 matches this season. He scored one goal and had five assists during his senior season. His goal came in Stan State's season opening 4-1 win at Saint Martin's on September 5. Of his five assists, two came in Warriors' victories (4-1 at Chaminade and 1-0 versus Cal State San Bernardino).
Cuellar started in all 18 matches in his final season as a Warrior. The senior captain scored three goals and had three assists for nine points this season. Of his three goals, two were game-winning goals. The first was in Stan State's 4-1 win at Chaminade (Sept. 12) and the second in its 2-0 win at Academy of Art (Sept. 25). He had 34 shot attempts including 17 on goal for a .500 shot on goal percentage.
Ruiz-Hernandez started in goal in 17 of the Warriors' 18 matches. He posted a 1.19 goals against average with 58 saves and a .744 saves percentage. The junior transfer recorded six of Stan State's seven shutouts in goal. He had a season high seven saves in the Warriors' match against then No. 2 Cal State
Los Angeles Golden Eagles. Ruiz-Hernandez recorded three straight shutouts from October 17 to 25 in which Stan State went 2-0-1.
Villanueva started in 17 of the 17 matches he played in this season. He was a key figure in the Warriors' defense allowing just 1.11 goals a game and posting seven shutouts. The Stan State defender scored two goals this season. The first came in the Warriors' 4-1 victory at Saint Martin's (Sept. 5) and the second in their 2-1 loss to then No. 32Cal State Los Angeles.
Stan State finished the 2024 season with a 7-6-5 overall record. This was the Warriors' first winning season since 2015. They were 3-4-4 in the CCAA for 13 points, which placed them in seventh place in the CCAA final regular season standings. Stan State finished just three points from receiving a bid to the 2024 CCAA Men's Soccer Tournament, presented by FloCollege.
