TURLOCK, Calif.—Behind a total team effort, Stan State Warriors sent their seniors out with a 93-85 victory over Cal State Monterey Bay in both team's regular season finale at The Fitz.
John Wade III recorded his first double-double as a Warrior with career highs of 31 points and 11 rebounds. Dontrell Jones chipped in 21 points while
Jeremiah Jones had career high of 17 points off the bench. Senior
Isaiah Jones tied his career high with 11 points in his final game as a Warrior.
FIRST HALF: Cal State Monterey Bay (7-20, 5-17 CCAA) jumped out to an early 14-6 lead in the first four minutes of the game. Javon Johnson's trey increased the Otters' lead to 27-11 at the 12:57 mark of the first half.
John Wade III's triple off a
Will Chavarin pass capped a 15-4 run by the Warriors as they cut the deficit to 34-26. The Otters' Jailen Nelson made a trey to increase the guests' lead back to double digits (37-26) with seven minutes left in the half. Back-to-back
Dontrell Hewlett's baskets capped a 27-7 run by the Warriors to end the half and give Stan State a 53-44 lead heading into the locker room.
SECOND HALF: The Otters started the second half on a 9-4 run to cut the Stan State lead to 57-53 just three minutes into the second half.
Isaiah Jones' triple off a
Cam Walker pass increased the hosts' lead to 70-53 at the 14:07 mark of the second half. Stan State (8-20, 5-17 CAA) took its largest lead of the game mid-way through the half on a jumper by
Jeremiah Jones (80-60). Cal State Monterey Bay didn't go away as the Otters cut the Warrior lead to 89-81 on a Jaden Tengan lay-up with 95 seconds to go in regulation.
Dontrell Hewlett's lay-up sealed the victory for the Warriors with one minute to go in the game. Javon Johnson's lay-up made the final Stan State 93-85.
CAREER NIGHT: John Wade III had a career night this evening with 31 points and 11 rebounds. He went 12-for-15 from the field including three-for-six from three-point land a perfect four-for-four from the line. Wade recorded two steals in 30 minutes of action.
MORE CAREER NIGHTS: Jeremiah Jones had a career high 17 points off the bench to go with his four rebounds and an assist. Jones was five-of-eight from the field including connecting on two of his four attempts from beyond the arc. He was five-for-six from the line.
Isaiah Jones tied his season high with 11 points.

ANOTHER DOUBLE DIGIT: Dontrell Hewlett was the fourth Warrior to score in double figures with 21 points (one point of tying his career high). He went nine-for-15 from the field including making his attempt from beyond the arc. He was two-for-four from the line. Hewlett grabbed two rebounds, dished out two assists, and recorded four steals.
