CSUMB Spoils Warriors’ Senior Night

TURLOCK, Calif.---  Cal State Monterey Bay defeated Stan State this evening 76-59 to spoil the Warriors' Senior Night.  Three Warriors scored in double digits led by senior Joia Armstrong's 17 points.  Senior Liliana Marques added 10 points as did Talia Maxwell for the hosts. 
 
FIRST QUARTER: Beginning of the game went back and forth until Cal State Monterey Bay took a 19-14 lead on a Deyliana Lewis thre with 95 seconds left in the quarter.  Stan State (15-17, 10-12 CCAA) finished the quarter cut the deficit to 22-19 on a trey by Kalyn Harris off one of Taylor Pilot's seven assists.
 
SECOND QUARTER:  The Warriors outscored the Otters 10-7 to tie the game at 29-29 on an Asha Walker lay-up off another Taylor Pilot assist with two minutes left in the half.  Deyliana Lewis connected on two free throws to give CSUMB a 31-29 lead heading into the locker room.
 
THIRD QUARTER:  Joia Armstrong's lay-up two minutes in the third quarter gave Stan State a 36-35 lead.  Taylor Pilot's lay-up increased the hosts' lead to 44-41 with three minutes left in the quarter.  Cal State Monterey Bay (5-22, 3-19 CCAA) finished the quarter outscoring its hosts 7-1 to take a 48-45 heading into the final quarter.
 
FOURTH QUARTER:  In the first six minutes of the final quarter, the Otters went on a 15-7 run to take a 63-52 lead.  They increased their lead to 69-55 with just 2:25 left in regulation.  With 1:55 left in the game, Asha Walker's trey off an Iman Addison assist cut the Otter lead to 69-59 but that is the closest that Stan State would get as they took the 76-59 victory.
 
SPLIT SERIES:  With the loss to CSUMB, the Warriors split the season series with the Otters 1-1.  Stan State defeated CSUMB 78-73 on New Year's Eve in Seaside.
 
THREE IN DOUBLE FIGURES:  Stan State had three players score in double figures in senior Joia Armstrong with 17 points while senior Liliana Marques added 10 points as did freshman Talia Maxwell.
 
8872:  Taylor Pilot scored eight points in almost 39 minutes of court time.  She added eight rebounds, seven assists, and two steals for the hosts.
