Women’s Tennis Start off Colorado Trip with 5-2 Victory over Mavericks

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.--- Stan State started is three-match road trip to the State of Colorado with a 5-2 victory over the Colorado Mesa Mavericks at the Elliott Tennis Center in Grand Junction, Colo.  The Warriors were victorious at five of the six singles match to take the PacWest match.

Stan State took five of the six singles matches after losing all three doubles to the Mavericks.  Three of the Warriors' victories went to three sets at number one singles Zuzanna Dziewiecka (6-7 (5-7), 6-1, 6-0), at number three singles Annabelle Mulick (6-7 (5-7), 6-4, 6-2), and at number six singles Abbigail Mulick (6-4, 5-7, 6-4).  Their two other wins were at number four Nicollet Alexander (6-2, 6-2), at number five Emma Yu (6-3, 6-3).

Heading into this past weekend, Stan State was ranked twelfth and Colorado Mesa (9-12) was eleventh in the first PacWest Women's Tennis rankings.  The top twelve teams at the end of the regular season will receive a berth to the 2024 PacWest Women's Tennis Championship, April 17-20, at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Club in Surprise, Arizona.

The Warriors (3-10) will continue their three-match road trip in Colorado, this Wednesday, April 3 for a 4:00 pm (MT) in Denver, Colo., against MSU-Denver.  The Roadrunners (6-11) are ninth in the recent PacWest Women's Tennis rankings.  Stan State will finish its trip to Colorado this Thursday, April 4 for a 1:00pm (MT) match in Pueblo, Colo., against CSU Pueblo. 

Stan State along with MSU-Denver and Colorado Mesa are affiliated members of the PacWest Conference in women's tennis.
