HAYWARD, Calif.--- Stan State split another four-game weekend series after a doubleheader split at Cal State East Bay this afternoon. The Warriors lost the opener 6-4, but came back to win the night cap 4-3. With the doubleheader split, the Warriors split their fifth weekend four-game series of the season.
GAME ONE: Cal State East Bay (25-10, 17-17 CCAA) took a 2-0 lead on a two-run home run by Cynthia Carrillo. The Pioneers added three more runs in the second to take a 5-0 lead.
The game remained 5-0 hosts until the top of the fourth on a solo home run by
Mikaela Ferreira. Stan State added another run on a two-out run scoring single by
Noelany Ramirez which scored Karli DalBIanco to cut the deficit to 5-2.
The Warriors added two more runs in the fifth to cut the deficit to 5-4. With one out,
Faith Erb reached on a Pioneer error. She scored on a double by Ferreira who scored on a double by DalBianco.
CSUEB added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth to take a 6-4 lead. Marisa Quintero recorded her first save by pitching a scoreless seventh as the hosts took the 6-4 game one victory.
WARRIOR HITTERS: Mikaela Ferreira and
Karli DalBianco went a combined four-for-seven with three runs batted in and two runs scored.
STAN STATE PITCHERS: Victoria Alarcon (4-12) suffered the loss in the start for Stan State.
GAME TWO: The hosts took a 3-0 lead with a three-run second inning capped by a two-out two-run single by Ashlee Toy. Stan State (19-28, 15-21 CCAA) cut the deficit to 3-1 with a run in the third.
Katie Thornsberry had a lead-off single and scored on a two-out single by
Karli DalBianco.
The Warriors tied the game at 3-3 with two runs in the fourth.
Lauryn Serda hit a two-run two-out single to bring in Katie Thornberry and
Noelany Ramirez.
Stan State took a 4-3 lead in the top of the fifth.
Sasha Martello had a lead-off single. She was pinch ran for by
Emily Bigley who went to third on a two-out single by
Shelby Frutoz. With one out, Ramirez walked to load the bases. Bigley scored on a ground out by Thornsberry.
Shelby Frutoz (4-10) retired the Pioneers in order in the seventh as Stan State took the night cap, 4-3.
