WAIPAHU, HI--- Stan State finished its season beginning four-match road trip 3-1 after blanking Hawai'i Pacific this evening 2-0 in Waipahu, Hawai'i.
Angel Ruiz-Hernandez recorded three saves en route to his first shutout as a Warrior.
Jacob Ramirez and
Marco Carbajal scored the two Stan State's goals and Alecxander Cueller had his second assist of the season.
FIRST HALF: Hawai'I Pacific (0-3) had the match's first chance for the lead, but
Angel Ruiz-Hernandez made one of his three saves on the evening stopping Shota Fukunishi's shot on goal attempt.
Edgar Castaneda had a chance to give Stan State the lead, but his shot on goal attempt was stopped by the Sharks' Kevin Harr. The Warriors' keeper made another stop late in the half to send the match into the half scoreless.
SECOND HALF: Early in the second half, Alecxander Cueller's chance to give the guests the lead was stopped by the Sharks' keeper. In the 63
rd minute, Ruiz-Hernandez made his final save stopping Takara Kelly's penalty kick attempt. Stan State took the lead on an unassisted goal by
Jacob Ramirez in the 73
rd minute. The Warriors doubled their lead in the 87
th minute when
Marco Carbajal connected on a ball from Cuellar to secure the 2-0 win for the guests.
FIRST: Angel Ruiz Hernandez had his first shutout for Stan State with three saves this evening. On Thursday afternoon, the junior keeper had three saves while giving up one goal in the Warriors' 4-1 win at Chaminade.
Jacob Ramirez scored his first goal as a Warrior this evening which also was his first game-winning goal for Stan State.
TWO: Marco Carbajal leads the Warriors with his two goals and an assist for five points. He scored the Warriors' second goal this evening.
UP NEXT: The Warriors will have their home opener on Wednesday, September 18 at 5pm when Stan State hosts Fresno Pacific. After Wednesday, Stan State will travel to San Francisco for a 11:00 a.m. non-conference match at Academy of Art in San Francisco.
