Women’s Soccer to Conclude Four-Match Home Stand Against Westmont and Biola

TURLOCK, Calif.---  Stan State will conclude its four-match home stand this Friday and Sunday, September 20 and 23 for a pair of non-conference matches against Westmont (Friday, September 20) and Biola (Monday, September 23).  Both matches are scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.

LAST WEEK:  The Warriors went 2-0 this past weekend against Western Oregon and Southern Oregon.  They defeated Western Oregon 1-0 when Aliah Avila scored on a pass from Kelsey Miller in the second half.  Natalia Ochoa recorded five saves en route to her first shutout in goal for the victors.  Stan State finished the weekend with a 2-1 win over Southern Oregon as the Warriors scored two goals in the final minutes of regulation.  Avila assisted on both goals.  The first assist went on Jocelin Roa's goal.  Her second assist went on a ball to Shauna Johnston for the game-winner.  Malia Allen had one save in goal for the Warriors. 

UPDATE ON THE WARRIORS:  Stan State is 3-1 entering its Friday's match.  Aliah Avila leads the team with her six points (two goals, two assists).  Jocelin Roa has scored two goals with Haylee Heffner and Shauna Johnston each scoring a goal.  Heffner along with Arionna Imhoff, Kaley Miller, and Kyndra Obermeyer each have assists.  Avila has two game-winning goals with Johnston scoring the other game-winner.

Malia Allen and Natalia Ochoa each have seen time in goal in three matches. Ochoa has a 0.00 goals against average with seven saves and a 1.000 saves percentage.  She also has the Warriors' shutout.  Allen has a 2.00 goals against average with four saves and a .500 saves percentage. 

WESTMONT:  The Warriors enter Friday's match with a 0-3-1 record after going 0-1-1 this weekend.  They tied Cal State Monterey Bay 0-0 and lost 5-1 to Cal Poly Pomona at home this past weekend.  Amelia Villa, Ande Siegel, and Amarys Machado each have scored goals for Westmont with Ruby Stimer with its assist.  Maya Pablos has posted a 2.00 goals against average in four matches with six saves.  Ellie Ludwig has a 3.00 goals against average with four saves. 

ALL-TIME SERIES:  This is the first time that Stan State and Westmont have faced each other in a regular season match.

BIOLA:  The Eagles enter this week with a 0-2-1 record after tying Sonoma State on Monday.  They will host Cal State Los Angeles tomorrow and Cal State San Marcos this Saturday before traveling to Turlock to face Stan State.  Marlje Rechin has scored the Eagles' goals with Kierstin Havens assisting on that goal.  Autum Monty has posted a 1.33 goals against average with ten saves and a .714 saves percentage. 

ALL-TIME SERIES:  The all-time series is tied at 1-1. Stan State defeated the Eagles in their last meeting 2-0 in Turlock in 2022.  Sabrina Cabrera scored one of the Warriors' two goals.

UP NEXT:  After Monday's match with Biola, Stan State will travel to Chico for a rare non-conference match with Chico State Saturday, September 28.  The match is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.  The Warriors will return home to begin conference play October 4 against Cal State Dominguez Hills at 7:00 p.m.
