TURLOCK, Calif.--- Stan State posted its second shutout of the season in its scoreless draw with the visiting Westmont College Warriors this evening at Warrior Stadium in Turlock, Calif.
Natalia Ochoa had three saves en route to her second shutout of the season.
FIRST HALF: Jocelin Roa recorded the first shot on goal attempt in the eighth minute when Westmont's Ellie Ludwig recorded one of her five saves on the evening. The Warriors had another chance in the 24
th minute to take the lead when Ludwig stopped
Kayla Perez's shot on goal attempt. With just seven minutes left in the first half, Stan State (3-1-1) looked like it was going to take the lead but
Sabrina Cabrera's shot on goal attempt was stopped by Ludwig to send the match into half-time scoreless.
SECOND HALF: Westmont (0-3-2) recorded its first shot on goal attempt three minutes into the second half off the foot of Amarys Machado which was stopped by Stan State's
Natalia Ochoa. Stan State drove right down the pitch, but Ludwig stopped
Arionna Imhoff's shot on goal attempt in the 52
nd minute. Ochoa made another save in the 63
rd as she stopped Madison Ford's attempt. The hosts had one last chance for the lead when
Kellyann Rodriguez's shot sailed to the right of the goal to end the game in a scoreless draw.
SECOND OF THE SEASON: Natalia Ochoa recorded her second shutout of the season in goal for Stan State this evening. As a team this was the hosts' second shutout of the season. Ochoa has a 0.00 goals against average with ten saves, two shutouts, and a 1.000 saves percentage.
11-8: Stan State outshot Westmont 11-8 including 5-3 in shot on goal attempts.
Kayla Perez had three of those five shot attempts. The trio of
Aliah Avila,
Arionna Imhoff, and
Kellyann Rodriguez each had two shot attempts.
UP NEXT: The Warriors will conclude their four-game home stand with a 7:00 p.m. non-conference match with Biola University this Monday, September 23. After Monday's match, Stan State will travel to Chico, Calif., for a rare non-conference match with Chico State on September 28 at 4:30 p.m. This will end the Warriors' non-conference slate of their regular season. They will begin CCAA play at home with a 7:00 p.m. match on Friday, October 4 against Cal State Dominguez Hills.
