No. 2 Stan State Runs Unbeaten Streak to Seven with Draw Against Cal State East Bay

TURLOCK, Calif. — The No. 2-ranked Stanislaus State men's soccer team extended its unbeaten start to the 2025 season, playing Cal State East Bay to a 2-2 draw Friday evening at Warrior Stadium in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) opener. The result moved the Warriors to 6-0-1 overall and 0-0-1 in conference play.

First Half
Cal State East Bay (2-3-2, 0-0-1 CCAA) struck first in the 21st minute when Alejandro Zarate converted off a setup from Franco De Luna. The Warriors generated eight shots before halftime but couldn't find the equalizer, sending the visitors into the breakup 1-0.

Second Half
Stan State leveled the match just four minutes after the restart as Sebastian Carbajal scored his second goal of the season in the 50th minute, assisted by Jose Ponce. It marked Ponce's first assist of the season and the second of his Stan State career. The Pioneers quickly regained the lead in the 57th minute on a Kiichi Murakami finish assisted by Zarate. The Warriors responded again 11 minutes later when Samuel Villanueva fired home his first goal of the season from a Gerardo Flores assist to make it 2-2. Despite a 22-11 shot advantage and several late chances, the Warriors were unable to find the game-winner.
