Top-Ranked Warriors Fall Just Short in 1–0 Battle at No. 10 CSUDH

Stanislaus State’s record 14-match unbeaten and seven-match win streaks end as Warriors stay tied atop CCAA standings; CCAA Tournament set for Nov. 14–16 at Cardinale Stadium on the campus of Cal State Monterey Bay in Seaside.

CARSON, Calif.---In a top-10 battle for first place in the CCAA, the No. 1 Stanislaus State men's soccer team fell just short in a 1–0 loss at No. 10 Cal State Dominguez Hills Friday night at Toro Stadium. The Warriors outshot the Toros 15–5 but couldn't find the back of the net as both their 14-match unbeaten streak and seven-match winning streak—each a school record—came to an end. Despite the result, the Warriors remain one of the nation's elite programs at 13-1-1 overall and 7-1-1 in the CCAA, tied with CSUDH for first place in the conference standings with 22 points.

First Half
The match opened at a high tempo, with both nationally ranked teams generating early pressure. Cal State Dominguez Hills broke through in the 12th minute on a goal from Christian Briseno, assisted by Alpha Sowe, to take a 1–0 lead. Stan State responded with several opportunities, including shots from Adrian Yepez and Landon Leal Ruiz, but the Warriors entered halftime trailing despite outshooting the Toros 6–3.

Second Half
The Warriors pushed forward in search of an equalizer, controlling much of the second half and outshooting the Toros 9–2. Gerardo Flores and Emmanuel Duran each came close to leveling the match, while the Warriors earned four corner kicks after the break. CSUDH goalkeeper Keegan O'Brien made six saves to preserve the shutout. Angel Ruiz-Hernandez finished with one save for Stan State in the narrow defeat.

Stanislaus State and Cal State Dominguez Hills are tied atop the CCAA standings, each with 22 points. The Toros are 11-2-3 overall (7-0-1 CCAA) and have won eight straight, while the Warriors are 13-1-1 overall (7-1-1 CCAA). The Warriors and CSUDH each have already secured a berth in the CCAA Semifinals whiel Stan State remains in contention for the program's first-ever regular-season championship.

Cal State Dominguez Hills will host Cal State San Bernardino on Sunday at 5 p.m. before closing the regular season on Thursday, Nov. 6, at 11:30 a.m. at Cal State East Bay. Stan State will finish its regular season at home, hosting UC Merced this Thursday, Nov. 6, at 11:30 a.m. in Warrior Stadium.

The 2025 CCAA Soccer Championship Tournament will take place Nov. 14–16 at Cardinale Stadium on the campus of Cal State Monterey Bay in Seaside, where the Warriors will compete as one of the top seeds.
