Stan State Outlasts Cal State LA in Five-Set Road Battle

LOS ANGELES, Calif.--- Stanislaus State battled through another five-set thriller on Friday night, taking down Cal State LA (17–7, 14–5 CCAA), 25–19, 21–25, 25–20, 20–25, 15–11, inside University Gym to extend its late-season push in the CCAA standings.

The Warriors improved to 12–12 overall and 10–7 in CCAA play, pulling into a three-way tie for fourth place with Cal State East Bay and San Francisco State heading into Saturday's regular-season finale at No. 21 Cal Poly Pomona.
Christallynn Tate led the way with 27 kills, tying for the second-most in a single match in program history and marking the highest total by any Warrior in 2025. Reagan Wilkerson posted her fourth double-double of the year, and Stan State's balanced attack and net play proved the difference in a gritty road victory that strengthened the Warriors' postseason position.

First set
Stanislaus State opened strong, jumping out to an early 10–5 lead behind kills from Tate and Isabella Saucedo. Cal State LA closed within two midway through, but the Warriors' front-row defense and a late 5–1 run sealed the opener, 25–19. Tate led the charge with six kills, while the team hit .320 in the frame.

Second set
The Golden Eagles responded in set two, using a quick start and improved serving to take control. Stan State battled back to within 20–19 after a kill by Wilkerson, but Cal State LA held on for a 25–21 win to even the match at one set apiece.

Third set
The Warriors regained the momentum in the third, led by Tate's dominant offense and strong setting from Shaelyn Pruiett. A 7–2 stretch midway through the set, capped by a block from Irene London and Lauren Hamilton, helped Stan State take command. The Warriors hit .280 in the set and took it 25–20 to move ahead 2–1 in the match.

Fourth set
Cal State LA refused to go quietly, building an early lead and maintaining control throughout the fourth. Stan State kept pace behind steady play from Saucedo and Wilkerson, but the Golden Eagles capitalized on late errors to close out a 25–20 win and force a decisive fifth set.

Fifth set
Stan State surged ahead 5–2 in the final frame and never trailed. Tate delivered clutch kills down the stretch, including the match-winner to complete her record-tying night. The Warriors out-hit the Golden Eagles .312 to .148 in the fifth and clinched the match 15–11 for their 10th CCAA victory of the season.

Tate finished with 27 kills and hit .297 for the match. Wilkerson posted her fourth double-double with 12 kills and 14 digs, while Pruiett distributed 48 assists. Leah Mendoza anchored the defense with 23 digs, and Stan State tallied 12 team blocks in the win.
