Historic Fall Continues as Warriors Chase Championships
It's championship season on the Stanislaus State campus, as the Warriors continue one of the most successful falls in program history. Men's soccer captured its first CCAA title since 2012 and awaits its NCAA Tournament destination, while women's soccer made its sixth straight CCAA Tournament appearance and third semifinal run in the last four years. Men's soccer will host the First Two Rounds of the NCAA's this Friday and Sunday. Women's cross country earned its second consecutive trip to the NCAA Championships, and volleyball secured a top-four finish in the CCAA standings and will host this week's conference tournament at Fitzpatrick Arena. Men's basketball opened the 2025–26 campaign 1–1, and women's basketball tips off its new season this weekend in Rocklin. Here's a look at all the Warrior action from a historic week.
Men's Soccer Captures First CCAA Title Since 2012
The No. 3-ranked Stanislaus State men's soccer team captured its first CCAA Championship since 2012 with two shutout wins, blanking Cal State East Bay 2–0 in the semifinals and Cal State San Marcos 3–0 in the final. Weekend goals came from

Michael Daley, with assists from Cervantes, Daley, Villanueva,
Adrian Yepez, and
Jose Tizoc. The defensive unit of
Samuel Villanueva,
Ian Reis,
David Lozano,
Christian Brenes, and
Hugo Canedo, anchored by goalkeeper
Angel Ruiz-Hernandez, held opponents scoreless while Ruiz-Hernandez posted 10 saves over the two matches for back-to-back clean sheets. Villanueva was named CCAA Tournament MVP, Reis earned Defensive MVP honors, and Cervantes, Duran, and Ruiz-Hernandez were selected to the All-Tournament Team.
Now 16-1-1 overall, the Warriors are ranked No. 3 nationally and No. 1 in the NCAA Super Region 4 rankings. Stan State has outscored opponents 42–9 this season with 11 shutouts and earned the CCAA's automatic berth to the NCAA Division II Championships. The Warriors will host the first two rounds of the NCAA's this Friday and Sunday, November 21 and 23. Western Oregon will face Hawai'I Hilo on Friday at 1pm with Stan State facing the winner on Sunday at 3pm.
Volleyball Finishes Fourth in CCAA Standings
Stanislaus State volleyball closed out the regular season with two thrilling five-set road victories over Cal State LA and Cal Poly Pomona to secure a fourth-place finish in the CCAA standings. The Warriors enter the postseason 13-12 overall and 11-7 in conference play after winning their final three matches.
Christallynn Tate led the attack with 239 kills on the season, followed by
Isabella Saucedo with 162 and
Malia Tanksley with 151. Setter
Shaelyn Pruiett directed the offense with 492 assists, while
Irene London,
Fallon Freeman, and
Lauren Hamilton anchored one of the league's top blocking units at 2.43 blocks per set. Stan State will open the CCAA Volleyball Championship on Thursday, Nov. 20, at 5:30 p.m. against SF State at Fitzpatrick Arena.
Men's Basketball Splits at Pioneer Conference Challenge
Stanislaus State opened the 2025–26 season with a 1–1 weekend at the Pioneer Conference Challenge, bouncing back with a 65–50 win over Fresno Pacific to even its record at 1–1.
Lloyd French and
Jason Cibull led the Warriors with 12.5 points per game, while
Donjae Lindsey added 12.0 points and shot 91 percent (10-for-11) from the free-throw line.
Daniel Ameyaw averaged 9.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game, and
Jason Zimmer contributed 8.5 points on 50 percent shooting from three-point range. The Warriors shot 42.6 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from long range, and outrebounded opponents 74–72. Stan State continues non-conference play Wednesday, Nov. 19, at Menlo College and Saturday, Nov. 22, at Dominican University.
Women's Soccer Falls in Double Overtime Heartbreaker
The No. 3-seeded Stanislaus State women's soccer team's CCAA Tournament run ended with a 2–1 double-overtime loss to No. 2 seed Chico State in Friday's semifinals.
Aliah Avila converted a penalty kick in the 50th minute to give the Warriors the lead before Chico equalized late and scored the game-winner in the 108th minute. Goalkeeper
Zara Mujica made two saves and finished the season among the CCAA leaders in goals-against average (0.93), save percentage (.795), and shutouts (6). Avila, who earned CCAA All-Tournament honors, led the team with 17 points, followed by
Olivia Maragos with seven goals and
Kellyann Rodriguez with three goals and five assists. Stanislaus State finished 11-5-4 overall after reaching the CCAA semifinals for the third time in the past four years and making its sixth consecutive CCAA Tournament appearance.
Women's Cross Country Headed to NCAA Championships
The No. 22-ranked Stanislaus State women's cross country team earned an at-large berth to the 2025 NCAA Division II Championships, marking its second straight and fourth appearance in five years. The Warriors will compete Saturday, Nov. 22, at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Stan State qualified after placing fifth at the NCAA West Regional, led by
Annie Wild's seventh-place All-Region finish, with strong support from
Jacqueline Sanchez-Silva,
Bela Moreno,
Stevie Holguin, and
Nina Furtado. The women's 6K championship race begins at 8 a.m. PT and will stream live on NCAA.com.
Women's Basketball to Open Regular Season Nov. 21 in Rocklin
The Stanislaus State women's basketball team begins its 2025–26 regular season next week at the Bill Holtz Classic in Rocklin. After an exhibition game at Division I Utah State on Thursday, Nov. 20, the Warriors will open official play on Friday, Nov. 21, at 12:30 p.m. against Bushnell University, followed by a matchup with William Jessup on Saturday, Nov. 22, at 2:00 p.m. Both games will be played at Jessup University's Warrior Arena and streamed live on the PacWest Network. Stan State will continue its non-conference slate at Fresno Pacific on Nov. 26 before opening CCAA play in December.
2025 CCAA Volleyball Tournament Presented by Under Armour

Stanislaus State's Ed & Bertha Fitzpatrick Arena will host the 2025 CCAA Volleyball Tournament presented by Under Armour for the second time in program history. The Warriors last hosted in 2018—the most recent time the event was held outside Southern California.
The six-team, single-elimination tournament begins Thursday, Nov. 20, with quarterfinal matches featuring the No. 3–6 seeds. Winners will advance to the semifinals on Friday, Nov. 21, before the championship match on Saturday,
Nov. 22. Fitzpatrick Arena—long known as one of the most energetic venues in the conference—last hosted a CCAA Championship event in 2023 for the men's and women's basketball tournaments.

Donna Pierce Warriors of the Week: Shaelyn Pruiett and Samuel Villanueva
Setter
Shaelyn Pruiett of volleyball and defender
Samuel Villanueva of men's soccer were named this week's Donna Pierce Warriors of the Week for their outstanding performances.

Pruiett was instrumental in leading the Warriors to a 2–0 road weekend, guiding back-to-back reverse-sweep victories at Cal State LA and Cal Poly Pomona. She recorded 41 assists with nine digs and a service ace in the rally from two sets down against the Golden Eagles, then added 35 assists and eight digs to complete another five-set comeback win over the Broncos. In total, she finished the weekend with 76 assists (7.6 per set) and 17 digs as she ran the Warrior offense to perfection.

Villanueva, the CCAA Tournament Offensive MVP, helped the Warriors capture their first CCAA Championship since 2012 and the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament. He scored a goal and added an assist while anchoring a defense that posted back-to-back shutouts. Villanueva is now the program's single-season assists leader with 11 and tied for the career lead with 15.
