MERCED, Calif. — The Stan State women's soccer team made it six straight postseason appearances on Thursday afternoon, defeating UC Merced 2-1 on the road to secure a berth in the 2025 CCAA Women's Soccer Tournament presented by FloCollege. Stan State finishes the regular season 10-4-4 overall and 6-3-2 in CCAA play, earning the No. 3 seed. The team will host sixth-seeded Cal State East Bay in the first round on Sunday at 12 p.m. at Warrior Stadium.
First Half
Stan State set the tone early, taking control of the match with a goal in the 17th minute.
Olivia Maragos netted her team-leading seventh goal of the season, finishing a perfectly placed ball from
Aliah Avila to give the women's soccer team a 1-0 lead. The visitors maintained possession and held UC Merced to just two shots in the opening half as goalkeeper
Zara Mujica made one save to keep the advantage intact heading into halftime.
Second Half
UC Merced tied the match in the 74th minute on a goal from Lexi Wright, but Stan State answered quickly. Just five minutes later,
Kellyann Rodriguez delivered the game-winner in the 79th minute — her first career game-winning goal — assisted by
Makeila Yancey, her second assist of the season and seventh of her career. Mujica made three more saves down the stretch to secure the 2-1 victory as Stan State closed out the regular season strong.

• Maragos scored her seventh goal of the season, tying her for third in the CCAA.

• Yancey recorded her second assist of the season and seventh of her career.
