TURLOCK, Calif. — Stan State men's basketball opened its four-game home stand Friday night with a strong start against Cal State San Bernardino, taking a 36–28 halftime lead before falling 81–73 inside Fitzpatrick Arena.
Donjae Lindsey paced the Warriors with 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting, while
Lloyd French and
Malachi Johnson added 15 points apiece and
Daniel Ameyaw finished with 10 as Stan State shot 51.0 percent from the field and matched CSUSB with seven three-pointers.
First Half
Stan State came out sharp offensively, shooting 54.5 percent from the field and 55.6 percent from three in the opening half to build its eight-point halftime advantage. Lindsey scored 13 first-half points on a perfect 5-for-5 start that included a pair of three-pointers. Johnson added 11 points before intermission, and
Mark Jones III knocked down a key three off the bench as Stan State pushed the lead to as many as eight late in the half. Defensively, the Warriors held CSUSB to 34.4 percent shooting in the opening period and closed the half with momentum after Lindsey buried a three with 27 seconds remaining.
Second Half
Cal State San Bernardino flipped the game after halftime, outscoring Stan State 53–37 while shooting 57.1 percent from the field in the second half. The Coyotes also lived at the free-throw line, converting 18-of-21 after the break, and used strong bench production to gain separation. Stan State remained within striking distance through multiple lead changes and ties, but CSUSB pulled ahead for good at the 10:47 mark and built its largest lead of 14 with 3:15 remaining.

The Warriors shot 51.0 percent from the field and matched CSUSB with seven three-pointers, but the Coyotes earned a 20–27 edge at the free-throw line. CSUSB finished with a 38–10 advantage in bench points and held a 35–32 edge on the boards. The game featured seven ties and eight lead changes, with Stan State leading for more than 20 minutes overall.
