No. 15 Cal Poly Pomona Pulls Away in Third, Tops Stan State

Turlock, Calif.---Stan State closed the weekend with a 75–37 loss to No. 15 Cal Poly Pomona on Sunday afternoon inside Fitzpatrick Arena. The Broncos used a decisive third quarter to create separation and maintain control the rest of the way in the CCAA match-up.

Cal Poly Pomona improved to 9–1 overall and 4–0 in CCAA play with the win, while Stan State moved to 1–6 overall and 0–4 in conference action.

First Quarter
Stan State competed early and kept the game within reach through the opening period. Cal Poly Pomona held a 17–10 lead after one, with both teams trading stops and limited scoring opportunities.

Second Quarter
Pomona continued to control the pace in the second quarter and stretched its advantage to 32–17 at halftime. Stan State went scoreless from three in the half and was limited to one field goal in the period.

Third Quarter
The Broncos broke the game open in the third, outscoring Stan State 27–11. Pomona shot 62.5 percent in the quarter and hit five three-pointers, creating separation with a 24-point advantage heading into the fourth.

Fourth Quarter
Stan State continued to battle in the final quarter, but Pomona maintained control and closed out the 75–37 win behind balanced scoring and a +11 rebounding edge.

Stan State Notables
MilaSarai Tau scored seven points and grabbed six rebounds.
Quinn Garrett added six points and five assists.
Kalyn Harris provided five points and three rebounds off the bench.
Eryn Gardner finished with six rebounds.
• Stan State recorded eight steals, led by two from Alyssa Premo.
