Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Stan State Men’s Basketball Falls in CCAA Opener at Humboldt, Heads to Chico on Saturday

TURLOCK, Calif. — Stan State men's basketball opened its CCAA road swing Thursday night with a 73–58 loss at Cal Poly Humboldt in Arcata. The Warriors fought hard, with solid contributions across the roster, but a second-half surge from the Lumberjacks proved the difference.

First Half
Stan State opened strong, building an early 8–2 lead behind baskets from Daniel Ameyaw, Donjae Lindsey and Lloyd French. The Warriors scored 18 of their 24 first-half points in the paint, showing early efficiency around the rim. Off the bench, Malik Johnson hit a three-pointer and Jason Cibull added five points to keep Stan State within striking distance. Humboldt closed the final minute with a 6–0 run — including a late three — to take a 30–24 lead into the break.

Second Half
Stan State continued attacking inside, finishing the game with 40 points in the paint and 25 points from the bench. Ameyaw led Stan State with 12 points and five rebounds, while French contributed 11 points and seven boards. Off the bench, Tahjae Ordonio added 10 points, and both Cibull and Malachi Johnson contributed 8 points each. The Warriors continued battling, but Humboldt's hot outside shooting — including 60.9 percent in the second half — helped the Lumberjacks create separation. Humboldt improved to 3–4 overall and 1–0 in CCAA play; Stan State moved to 4–3 and 0–1 in the conference.
