BORREGO SPRINGS, Calif.--- After the first round of the three-day 54-hole Battle in the Desert, Stan State is in second place with its ten-under par 278 at the par-72 Rams Hill Country Club in Borrego Springs, Calif.
Jack Peters leads the way for the Warriors with his five-under par 67. University of Texas at Tyler's Jay Shero leads the field with his eight-under par 64. No. 11 Georgia Southwestern sits in first place at the first round with a 15-under par 273.

Nate Jetton shot an ever-par 72, which places him in a six-way tie for 22
nd place.
Ricky Sullivan shot a one-over par 73 today which places him in an eight-way tie for 28
th place.
TOP FIVE TEAMS: No. 11 Georgia Southwestern leads the tournament field with a 15-under par 273. Five strokes behind Georgia Southwestern are the Warriors with their ten-under par 278. One stroke behind Stan State is No. 27 Texas Tyler with its nine-under par 279. Sitting in fourth place with its six-under par 282 is No. 28 Cal State Monterey Bay followed by Western New Mexico in fifth place with a two-over par 290.
TOP FIVE INDIVIDUALS: Jay Shero of UT Tyler shot an eight-under par 64 to hold the tournament lead. Two strokes behind Shero is Cal State Monterey Bay's Simon Bjorken (66, -6). There is a four-way tie for third place each with a five-under par 67 in the Warriors'
Jack Peters, Sam Brown (Georgia Southwestern), Joao Costa (Georgia Southwestern), and Liam Adler (Cal State Monterey Bay).
SECOND ROUND: Stan State will tee-off at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow, February 25, to begin the second round at Rams Hill. The Warriors will be paired with Cal State Monterey Bay, University of Texas at Tyler, and Cal State Dominguez Hills.
THIRD ROUND: The third and final round will be a Shotgun Start beginning at 8:00 a.m. this Wednesday, February 26. The pairings will be done after the conclusion of Tuesday's second round.
