TURLOCK, Calif.--- Stan State lost in its final regular season home game 92-75 this evening to the visiting Cal State San Bernardino Coyotes.
Jonathan Tchengang led the way for the hosts with 21 points while
Cameron Walker chipped in 14 points and
Jeremiah Jones added 12 points.
FIRST HALF: Cameron Walker's trey off a
Mahda Fallay pass just five minutes into the game gave the hosts a 12-9 lead. Jordan Jones' three capped a 16-5 run by Cal State San Bernardino as the Coyotes took a 25-17 lead.
Jeremiah Jones' lay-up cut the Coyote lead to 29-24 mid-way through the first half. With 6:31 lead left in the half; The Coyotes took a 35-26 lead. A
Lloyd French three off a
Jason Cibull capped an 8-0 run by Stan State run as the Warriors cut their deficit to 35-34. Cal State San Bernardino (21-10, 14-8 CCAA) finished the half outscoring Stan State 15-2 to take a 50-so 34 lead heading into the locker room.
SECOND HALF: An Andrew Henderson three increased the guests' lead to 58-40 just two minutes into the new half. Jazon Zimmer's three off a
Jonathan Tchengang pass cut the Warriors' deficit to 68-59 with 11:13 left on the clock. An Evan Oliver trey increased CSUSB's lead to 75-61. Stan State (11-17, 8-14 CCAA) had a 10-3 run capped by a
Lloyd French free throw as the Warriors cut the Yote lead to 78-71. The Coyotes finished the game outscoring Stan State 14-4 to take the 92-75 victory.
CAREER HIGH: Jonathan Tchengang scored a career high 21 points in his final game as a Warrior. He shot nine-for-14 from the field including going three-for-five from three-point land. He also dished out two assists in 31 minutes.
27 STRAIGHT: Jeremiah Jones scored 12 points to give him 27 straight games this season that he scored in double figures. He grabbed five rebounds, dished out two assists, and recorded one steal for the Warriors. Jones averaged 18.5 points and shot 46.2% from the field this season.
BATTLE OF THE BOARDS: Stan State won the battle of the boards this afternoon, 35-34.
Daniel Ameyaw had nine rebounds to lead the way.
