Lewis and Scott-Mitchell Score Double Digits on Senior Day

TURLOCK, Calif.--- The Warriors hosted Cal State San Bernardino tonight for Senior Day, honoring Da'Myiah Lewis and Daja Scott-Mitchell. Despite Lewis scoring 26 and Scott-Mitchell chipping in 11, Stan State fell 87-67.

FIRST QUARTER: Cal State San Bernardino (16-11, 15-7 CCAA) took the first lead with five points, though Daja Scott-Mitchell cut in with a jumper. The Coyotes were not concerned with the pressure and continued to build a lead. The Warriors earned free throws and chipped away at the building lead, but Cal State San Bernardino found ways to bring their lead back into double digits, making the score 24-14 at the end of the first quarter.
 
SECOND QUARTER:
Stan State (5-23, 4-18 CCAA) opened the second quarter with two-pointers from Da'Myiah Lewis and Alyssa Premo. The Coyotes responded with six points of their own. A back-and-forth ensued, with Cal State San Bernardino extending their lead to 10, Stan State bringing them back down to eight, then the Coyotes taking it back to 10. The Warriors kept them to eight, trailing at the half 39-31.

THIRD QUARTER: The Coyotes went back up by 10, but a pair of free throws brought the Warriors back within eight. Cal State San Bernardino went on a seven-point run to extend their lead, though Stan State brought it back to just eight with a run of their own. The Coyotes were not deterred, earning a 12-point run to go up by 20. Amya Vangkham-Griffin chipped in two to make the score 64-46 in Cal State San Bernardino's favor at the end of three.

FOURTH QUARTER: With two layups, Cal State San Bernardino furthered their advance. Free throws from the Warriors assisted in keeping the Coyotes from getting even further ahead, but soon Cal State San Bernardino began sinking threes. The teams began trading layups and two-point shots, then the Warriors scored six to cut away at the Coyotes lead. With five points in the final minute of the game, Stan State reduced their lead, but still fell to Cal State San Bernardino 87-67.

SENIORS SHINE: Da'Myiah Lewis recorded her 12th double-double of her career on her senior night with 26 points and 10 rebounds. Daja Scott-Mitchell put up 11 points and snagged seven rebounds.
 
PUSH BACK: The Warriors held Cal State San Bernardino to just 35.3% shooting from the field in the second quarter. The Coyotes also had 16 turnovers to Stan State's 10, due in part to the Warriors' 10 steals.  
 
PATTERSON:
Jadyn Patterson aided her team with three assists, four steals, and three defensive rebounds, attempting to keep the ball in the Warriors' possession.
