Stan State Finishes in Fourth at Pioneer Shootout; Chomyn Places Ninth

ALAMEDA, Calif.---  Stan State moved up three places to finish in fourth place at the 2025 Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout this afternoon at the par-72 Corica Golf Course in Alameda, Calif.  The Warriors shot an eight-under par 280 to finish with a seven-under par 857 in the 54-hole tournament.  Chris Chomyn paced the Warriors with his four-under par 212 (66-73-73) to finish in tie for ninth place. 

WARRIORS:  Chris Chomyn shot six-under par 66 this morning to finish with his four-under par 212.  He began the tournament on Monday shooting back-to-back rounds of 73. Chomyn finished in a tie for ninth place with Hawai'i Pacific's Kyle Krupp. 

Finishing in an eight-way tie for 14th place was the Warrior duo of Nate Jetton and Ricky Sullivan. Jetton shot a three-under par 69 to finish with a two-under par 214 (73-72-69). Sullivan shot a one-over par 73 today to go with his 70 and 71 scores from yesterday to finish with a 214. 

Jack Peters finished in a five-way tie for 36th place.  Peters shot an even-par 72 today to go with his 77 and 69 from yesterday to finish with a two-over par 218.  Chase Bird finished with a three-rounds core of 231 to finish in 88th place. 

Playing as individuals:  Rey Rosas finished in a five-way tie for 62nd place with his eight-over par 224 (75-77-72).  Drew Pritchard finished in a three-way tie for 80th place with a twelve-over par 229.  Finishing tied for 89th place was Armaan Sahota with a 232.

TOP FIVE TEAMS:  Cal State San Marcos captured the Pioneer Shootout with the Cougars fourteen-under par 850 followed by Sonoma State with its 12-under par 852.  The tournament hosts, Cal State East Bay, finished in third place with its eleven-under par 853.  The Warriors finished in fourth place with their seven-under par 857 (292-285-280). Finishing in five place was Northwest Nazarene with a five-under par 859. 

TOP THREE INDIVIDUALS:  Cal State San Marcos' Greg Mouser captured the Pioneer Shootout with a nine-under par 207.  Sohoma State's Ivan Sablan was second with an eight-under par 208 followed by Cal State East Bay's Peyton Hendricks with a seven-under par 209.

UP NEXT: The Warriors will return to the golf course March 21-25 for two tournaments in the State of Arizona.  They will play in the Hot Desert Shootout on Friday, March 21 at the Golf Club of Estrella in Goodyear, Ariz.  Stan State will golf in The Stack Cougar-Burro Collegiate March 24-25.  The first two rounds of the Collegiate will take place on March 24 at the Verrado Golf Course in Buckeye, Ariz.  The final round will be at the Golf Club of Estrella in Goodyear, Ariz.
