Heading Into the Final Round of The Stack Cougar-Burro Collegiate, Warriors Sit in Eighth Place

BUCKEYE, Ariz.---  After shooting a fourteen-over par 302 in Sunday's opening round, Stan State shot an eleven-over par 299 in the second round this afternoon to head into Tuesday's final round with a 25-over par 601.  Leading the way for Stan State, who is 29th in the most recent SCOREBOARD/NCAA Division II rankings, was Nate Jetton with his one-over par 73 today.  Jetton heads into the final round with a seven-over par 151.  Jack Peters has the Warriors' lowest score with a two-over par 146 (71-75) to place him in 16th place at the par 72 Verrado Golf Course in Buckeye, Ariz. 

WARRIORS: Leading the way for Stan State heading into tomorrow is Jack Peters with his two-round score of two-over par 146.  Peters shot a three-over par 75 today to go with his one-under par 71 for his 146.  He is in a three-way tie for 14th place.  Five strokes behind Peters is Nate Jetton who led the Warriors today with a one-over par 73.  Jetton shot a 78 yesterday to finish with a seven-over par 151 heading into tomorrow.  The senior golfer is in a seven-way tie for 28th place.

Two strokes behind Jetton are the duo of Ricky Sullivan and Chris Chomyn.  Sullivan shot a three-over par 78 to go with his 78 from yesterday for his 153.  Chomyn shot a four-over par 76 to go with his 77 from Monday to head into the final round with a 153.  The duo is in a six-way tie for 45th place.  Chase Bird has a 158 heading into Tuesday after shooting an 82 today and a 76 on Sunday, which places him in a six-way tie for 62nd place. 

EAGLES/BIRDIES/PARS ANYONE: Heading into the third round, Jack Peters has 23 pars and six birdies in the tournament's first 36 holes.   Nate Jetton has 21 pars and four birdies while Ricky Sullivan has 22 pars and three birdies.  After the first two rounds, Chris Chomyn has 22 pars and four birdies.  Chase Bird has one eagle, nineteen pars, and two birdies.

TOP FIVE TEAMS: Colorado Christian, who is number one in the nation, stays at top of the tournament field with its eleven-under par 565 (277-288). Western Washington and Westminster (Utah) are tied for second place each with a 17-over par 593.   Sitting in fourth place with its 18-over par 594 is Fort Lewis College.  Colorado Mesa is in fifth place with a 19-over par 595. 

TOP THREE INDIVIDUALS:  Colorado Christian's Adam Duncan, who is ranked number two in the nation, is in first place with a five-under par 139 (68-71).  One stroke behind Duncan is Colorado Mesa's Cole Beyer with a four-under par 140 (70-70).  The Colorado Christian duo of Xavier Bighaus, who is ranked fifth in the nation and Sangha Park, are tied for third with a two-under par 142. 

FINAL ROUND TEE-TIMES:  The final round will have a shotgun start on Tuesday, March 25 at 7:30 a.m. at the Golf Club of Estrella in Goodyear, Ariz.  The Golf Club of Estrella is the same course that hosted the Hot Dirt Desert Shootout on Friday, which Stan State tied for sixth place with a two-over par 578 with Colorado School of Mines.  The Warriors will be paired with golfers from Colorado Mesa, Colorado School of Mines, and Cal State East Bay.  They will start on holes two through five. 

UP NEXT:  After tomorrow's final round, Stan State will host the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational which will be the 50th year of the invitational April 14-15.  The first day of the tournament which will be 36 holes at Merced Golf & Country Club in Merced, Calif.  The final 18 holes will be played at Turlock Golf & Country Club in Turlock, Calif.  Both days will start at 8:00 a.m. with a shotgun start.  After the conclusion of the final round on April 15, Stan State will hold a luncheon ceremony with awards being presented to the winning teams and individuals.  The Warriors will recognize their two seniors in Jack Peters and Drew Pritchard
