TURLOCK, Calif.--- San Francisco State took the series finale from the Stan State Warriors 20-7 this afternoon. The Warriors had 11 hits this afternoon led by
Jonluke Goldman's three-for-five day.
Luke Davies and Arther Navarette Jr., each added two hits for the hosts.
Stan State (11-17, 6-12 CCAA) took a 1-0 lead in its half of the second inning. With one out,
Alex Solis singled. He stole second and scored on an
Arthur Navarette Jr. to give the Warriors the 1-09 lead.
San Francisco State (18-14, 14-10 CCAA) scored five runs in the top of the third inning to take a 5-1 lead. They added another run in the fourth on a Daniel Murrillo solo home run. The Gators took a 7-1 lead with a run in the fifth. They added nine runs on four hits in the top of the fifth inning capped by a two-run home run by Murillo as the visitors took a 16-1 lead. They added two runs in the seventh and eighth to increase their lead to 20-1.
In Stan State's eighth inning and with one out,
Jacob Reyes was hit by a pitch. He later scored on a two-out pinch-hit single by Kaden Quitno for Stan State's second run of the game.
The Warriors scored five runs in the ninth to cut the deficit and make the final 20-7 Gators.
JD Madrigal led off the inning being hit by a pitch. He went to second on a wild pitch. Dannu Murphy drew a walk to place runners on first and second. Madrigal scored on a pinch hit double by
Austin Sargent. Murphy and Sargent scored on a two-out double by
Jonluke Goldman, who advanced to third on a wild pitch. Still with two outs, Quitno walked to place runners on the corners.
Luke Davies drove home both Goldman and Quitno with a triple to left center for the Warriors' final two runs of the game.
THREE MULTIPLE-HIT GAMES: Stan State had three players with two hits or more this afternoon.
Jonluke Goldman went three-for-five with two runs batted in, a run scored, and a double.
Arthur Navarette Jr. was two-for-two with a run batted in while
Luke Davies went two-for-two with two runs batted in and a triple.
UP NEXT: Stan State will return to the road for a four-game series at Cal Poly Pomona, April 4-6, in Pomona, Calif. The series will begin under the lights with a 6:00 p.m. nine-inning game on Friday, April 4. The two teams will play a 2:00 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday, April 5. The series will conclude with a noon game a week from today, Sunday, April 6. Stan State will return home, April 11-13, for a four-game series with Sonoma State.
