Warriors Split Doubleheader with DalBianco's Grand Slam to Win the Second Game

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif.--- Stan State faced Cal State San Bernardino in their first doubleheader of their four-game series today. In the first game, the Warriors lost 7-4, but they turned things around and won the second game 6-3, headlined by a grand slam from Karli DalBianco.

GAME 1: Cal State San Bernardino (11-10, 5-4 CCAA) struck first, getting out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second with an RBI single.
 
Stan State (7-12, 4-5 CCAA) were able to match them in the top of the third. Karli DalBianco singled to lead off the inning, moving to second on a wild pitch. A sacrifice bunt by Allejandra Perea moved DalBianco to third. Sasha Martello reached on a throwing error which also allowed DalBianco to score.
 
In the bottom of the third, the Coyotes scored four on an error, two doubles, and two singles. They earned another run in the bottom of the fourth with a double, passed ball, and an RBI groundout.
 
Stan State picked up two runs in the top of the fifth. Allejandra Perea earned a one-out single, followed by a walk by Sasha Martello. McKenna Beach singled to load the bases, and Sarah Warden walked to score Perea. Madison Rosebrough walked, allowing Martello to cross the plate.
 
Cal State San Bernardino added another run in the bottom of the sixth with a pair of singles and runners moved over with fielder's choices.
 
The Warriors scored one in the top of the seventh. Sydney Davis singled with one out while Sarah Warden hit a two-out double to score Davis. Their rally fell short as the Coyotes won the game 7-4.
 
GAME 2: Sasha Martello started off the top of the second with a single. McKenna Beach hit a one-out single to move Martello to second. Sarah Warden was hit by a pitch to load the bases and Moxie Barton drove in Martello with a single through the left side for the Warriors to take the lead.
 
In the top of the fourth, McKenna Beach reached first by being hit by a pitch. Sarah Warden moved Beach to second with a sacrifice bunt. Madison Rosebrough doubled, moving Beach to third. Moxie Barton walked to load the bases, and Karli DalBianco brought them all home with a two-out grand slam.
 
The Coyotes earned one run in the bottom of the fourth with three singles. They earned a second run in the bottom of the fifth with a sacrifice fly after a double, walk, and a pair of fielder's choices.
 
Stan State earned a sixth run in the top of the sixth. Moxie Barton singled with one out, while Malia Babasa followed with a bunt single to move Barton to second, though Barton was out stretching to third. Karli DalBianco doubled to score Babasa and go up by four.
 
Cal State San Bernardino's rally was not enough, though they found one more run in the bottom of the seventh with a home run. The Warriors win 6-3 after seven.

BARTON: Freshman Moxie Barton went two-for-two in the second game of today's doubleheader, putting herself on base at the right time. Barton drew a walk, crossed the plate, and drove in a run as well.
 
BEACH: McKenna Beach was two-for-five on the day. Beach drew two walks while also scoring a run.
 
DALBIANCO: Karli DalBianco was one-for-four with a run scored in the first game but was two-for-three in the second game. DalBianco hit a grand slam, accruing a total of five RBIs with a double later in the game as well. She also walked to reach base as well.
 
UP NEXT: Tomorrow, Sunday, March 9th, the Warriors play their second doubleheader versus Cal State San Bernardino.
