TURLOCK, Calif.---  Stan State lost two close ball games this afternoon in its final two home games of the regular season on Senior Day in Turlock.  The Warriors lost the opener 2-1 and the night cap 9-6 to the No. 23 ranked San Francisco State Gators.  After the doubleheader, Stan State recognized its nine seniors in Victoria Alarcon, Marissa Cerda, Karli DalBianco, Sydney Davis, Shelby Frutoz, Sasha Martello, Allejandra Perea, Katie Thornsberry, and Sarah Warden in a ceremony on the diamond. 

GAME ONE:  Today's first game of the doubleheader was a pitching duel between the Warriors' Victoria Alarcon and SF State's Mari Takeda Bajan. The pitching duo held their opponent scoreless until the Gators half of the fifth.  With one out, Kai DeLeon double to left field.  She scored on a two-out single by Shaunessy Cardwell.  The Gators doubled their lead, 2-0, in the top of the sixth on a one-out solo home run by Lexi Holihan.
Stan State (13-31, 8-24 CCAA) cut the deficit in half with a run in the sixth.  Malia Babasa drew a lead-off walk.  She went to second on a single by Karli DalBianco.  Babasa was out a third when McKenna Beach reached on a fielder's choice.  DalBianco and Beach advanced a base on a wild pitch.  Sarah Warden drove in DalBianco with a ground out to second. 
Takeda Bajan retired the Warriors in the seventh to preserve the 2-1 game one victory for the visitors.

ALARCON:  Victoria Alarcon (7-10) pitched a complete game.  She gave up five hits and two runs while striking out six and walking six.

TWO HITS:  Stan State's two hits came off the bats of Karli DalBianco and Sydney Davis.

GAME TWO:  San Francisco State (32-16, 19-13 CCAA) took a 5-0 lead with a five-run second inning.  Kai DeLeon's two-out-two run single being the key hit for the Gators in the inning. 
Stan State cut the Gator lead to 5-3 with a three-run third inning.  McKenna Beach had a lead-off single, went to second when Sarah Warden walked.  Beach scored on a run scoring single by Sasha Martello.  Allejandra Perea singled to load the bases.  With one out, Marissa Cerda singled home Martello. Perea scored on a ground out to first by Katie Thornsberry to cut the deficit to 5-3.
SF State added an insurance run in the fourth to take a 6-3 lead.  Stan State scored its fourth run of the game in the fifth on a solo home run by Perea. The Gators increased their lead to 9-4 with a three-run sixth.

The Warriors didn't go away.  Sarah Warden had a lead-off single and went to second on a Perea single with one out.  They each advanced a base on a Gator wild pitch.  Warden scored when Cerda reached on a SF State error.  Perea scored the Warriors' sixth run when Thornsberry reached on another Gator error to cut the Warrior deficit to 9-6.  The Warriors were retired in order in their last at bat as SF State took the night cap 9-6.

ELEVEN HITS:  Allejandra Perea went three-for-four with a solo home run (her second of the season) and scored three runs to lead Stan State's offensive attack.  Malia Babasa and McKenna Beach went a combined four-for-ten with two runs scored. 

MULTIPLE-HIT GAMES:  With her two-hit game in the night cap, Malia Babasa has a team high 13 multiple-hit games.  Allejandra Perea's three-hit game was her first of the season and was her seventh multiple-hit game of the
season.  McKenna Beach now has four multiple-hit games this season. 

UP NEXT:  Stan State will finish off the 2025 regular season with a four-game series in Arcata, Calif., against Cal Poly Humboldt this Friday-Saturday, April 25-26.  The series will begin with a 1:00 p.m. starting doubleheader this Friday.  The two teams will conclude the series with an 11:00 a.m. starting doubleheader a week from today.
