Warriors Finish Season with Offensive Battle

ARCATA, Calif.--- Stan State played two today, finishing yesterday's suspended game and one of their regularly scheduled games for the day. The Warriors fell in the first game 6-5 and the second 9-6.
 
GAME 1: The majority of the first inning was played yesterday, where Cal Poly Humboldt () picked up one run with two walks and a single.  
 
In the third inning, Katie Thornsberry got a one-out single to put a runner on for the Warriors (). Malia Babasa followed with a single to have runners on first and second. Karli DalBianco doubled to score Thornsberry and move Babasa to third. Despite a pitching change for the Lumberjacks, McKenna beach hit a sacrifice fly to bring Babasa home and allow DalBianco to tag up at third. DalBianco made it home with a single by Sasha Martello to take the lead 3-1.
 
The game remained quiet until the sixth inning where Cal Poly Humboldt found an opportunity to tie the game with a two-run home run. They loaded the bases after, but the Warriors' defense held the Lumberjacks.
 
Stan State responded in the top of the seventh, beginning with Katie Thornsberry drawing a walk. Malia Babasa put down a sacrifice bunt to move Thornsberry to second. Karli DalBianco gave Cal Poly Humboldt a taste of their own medicine with her own two-run homer, give the Warriors the lead once again.
 
Cal Poly Humboldt led off the bottom of the seventh with two singles, followed by a three-run home run to walk off the game.
 
OFFENSIVE COMBINATION: Malia Babasa, Sydney Davis, and Sasha Martello combined for the Warriors' four hits. Moxie Barton reached on a fielder's choice to score Stan State's lone run, brought in by a single by Babasa.
 
BABASA: Malia Babasa put up another two-hit game, going two-for-three and scoring a run. Babasa has scored 22 runs in her first season at Stan State.
 
DALBIANCO: Karli DalBianco hit her third home run of the season and the fourth of her career. She has now knocked in 68 runs in her career.
 
GAME 2: Stanislaus State got out quick in the first inning. McKenna Beach hit a two-out home run to put the Warriors on top early.
 
Cal Poly Humboldt responded with a solo home run of their own in the bottom of the first. They added to more in the bottom of the second with a hit by pitch, stolen base, two walks, and a double. In the bottom of the third, a grand slam put the Lumberjacks ahead 7-1.
 
The Warriors lead off the top of the fourth with a double by Karli DalBianco. McKenna Beach followed with a double of her own to score DalBianco. Allejandra Perea grounded out but moved Beach to third. After a pitching change, Sarah Warden hit into a fielder's choice that resulted in no outs, scoring McKenna Beach. Warden was able to move to third on a double by Shelby Frutoz while Sydney Davis followed with a sacrifice fly to bring Warden home.
 
In the bottom of the fifth, the Lumberjacks extended their lead, utilizing a walk, two singles and a double.
 
In the top of the seventh, the Warriors began a rally with a two-out single by Karli DalBianco. McKenna Beach hit a single and both runners advanced into scoring position on a wild pitch. Allejandra Perea doubled to score them both, bringing the game to 9-6, still in favor of Cal Poly Humboldt.
 
DALBIANCO: Karli DalBianco finished the day four-for-seven, driving in three runs and scoring four herself. She finishes the season with a career-high .407 slugging percentage and .317 batting average.
 
BEACH: McKenna Beach was five-for-seven on the day scoring three runs and batting in three more. Beach tallied another home run today, finishing the season with a team-leading six home runs.
 
ALL-TIME: Victoria Alarcon makes her way onto the Stan State career all-time list with 215 strikeouts to land in seventh. She also is ninth all-time with her 29 career complete games. McKenna Beach finishes first on the all-time list for getting hit by 21 pitches in a single season, which also ties her for third on the all-time list for career HBPs.
