TURLOCK, Calif. — Former Stanislaus State baseball star and current Minnesota Twins pitcher Joe Ryan has been named to the 2025 Major League Baseball American League (AL) All-Star Team. Ryan becomes the first pitcher added to the AL roster, replacing Houston Astros' Hunter Brown, who will be unavailable after a scheduled start this Sunday.

Ryan enters the All-Star break with a standout 8-4 record, a 2.76 ERA, and 116 strikeouts over 104.1 innings pitched. He is tied for second in the AL in Wins Above Replacement (WAR) at 3.9 and ranks among the league's top ten pitchers in several key categories, including second in WHIP (0.89) and strikeout-to-walk ratio (5.52).

A 2018 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Pitcher of the Year and All-CCAA First Team selection, Ryan made his MLB debut with the Twins in 2021. Since then, he has compiled a career record of 41-30 with a 3.71 ERA and 641 strikeouts across 574.2 innings. He has started 101 of his 102 career games.

Ryan is the first former CCAA player named to the MLB All-Star Game since Hall of Famer, CCAA Hall of Famer, and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo alum  Ozzie Smith, a 15-time All-Star.

The 2025 MLB All-Star Game will take place Tuesday, July 15 at Truist Park in Atlanta, Georgia, home of the Atlanta Braves. Ryan will join the league's top talent in representing the American League on one of baseball's biggest stages.
