Stanislaus State Dominates Western Washington in 4–1 Home Victory

TURLOCK, Calif. — Stanislaus State continued its strong start to the season with a commanding 4–1 win over Western Washington on Saturday night at Warrior Stadium. Behind a balanced offensive attack featuring a trio of assists from Samuel Villanueva, a brace from Emmanuel Duran, and the first collegiate goal from freshman Sebastian Carbajal, the Warriors improved to 2-0-0. Western Washington managed a single goal in the second half but struggled to match the Warriors' pace and finishing throughout the match.

First Half Summary:
The Warriors opened the match aggressively, generating several early chances and applying consistent pressure on the Viking defense. After multiple corner kicks and shots narrowly missing the target, Stanislaus State broke through in the 35th minute when Sebastian Carbajal scored his first collegiate goal off a well-placed pass from Samuel Villanueva, with Alexis Cervantes also credited with an assist. The Warriors outshot Western Washington 9–3 in the first half and entered the break with a 1–0 lead, buoyed by a composed defensive effort and key saves from goalkeeper Angel Ruiz-Hernandez.

Second Half Summary:
Stanislaus State wasted little time doubling its lead in the 50th minute, as Kenneth Solares slotted home a finish assisted by Villanueva. Western Washington responded in the 72nd minute with a goal from Frank Miedema, cutting the lead to 2–1. However, the Warriors quickly extinguished any momentum with back-to-back goals from Emmanuel Duran in the 76th and 77th minutes—his first a powerful strike set up by Villanueva and Adrian Yepez, and the second assisted by Gerardo Flores. Stanislaus State maintained control through the final whistle, out-shooting the Vikings 17–7 overall and holding a firm grip on the pace and flow of play.

Warrior Notables:

Villanueva's Trio:
Senior defender Samuel Villanueva played the role of playmaker all night, recording a career-high three assists. He was directly involved in three of the team's four goals, showcasing his ability to create chances in both the run of play and transition.

Duran's Brace:
Sophomore Emmanuel Duran delivered his first brace of the season with goals in the 76th and 77th minutes. Both scores came during a rapid-fire stretch that sealed the result for the Warriors and pushed Duran to the top of the team's scoring chart with two goals.

Carbajal's First:
Freshman forward Sebastian Carbajal made the most of his minutes, scoring his first collegiate goal in the 35th minute. The strike put Stanislaus State on the board and set the tone for the remainder of the match.

Stanislaus State heads north for a two-match road trip in Washington.
