TURLOCK, Calif.--- Following an unbeaten conference weekend in which she allowed just one goal over 180 minutes, Stan State goalkeeper
Zara Mujica has been named the FloCollege/CCAA Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season.
Mujica helped the Warriors earn a pair of CCAA draws against Chico State and Cal Poly Humboldt, recording 12 saves, a .923 save percentage and a 0.50 goals-against average.
The Warrior goalkeeper helped Stan State earn a 1-1 road draw at Chico State on Thursday before recording a shutout in Saturday's scoreless draw against Cal Poly Humboldt at Warrior Stadium. Mujica played all 90 minutes in both matches as the Warriors held their opponents to one combined goal.
Mujica came up with a key penalty kick save in the 85th minute against Cal Poly Humboldt, preserving the scoreless draw and helping the Warriors secure an important CCAA point. Her late-game stop highlighted a defensive effort that kept the Lumberjacks off the scoreboard for all 90 minutes.
Saturday's shutout moved Mujica into a tie for fifth place on Stan State's career shutouts list with Haley Crook at 13. She also has 137 career saves, ranking sixth in program history.
Mujica's 6.5 shutouts this season are tied for 10th on Stan State's single-season list, matching her total from 2025 and Breanna Vaughan's mark from 2003.
The honor is Mujica's second FloCollege/CCAA Defensive Player of the Week recognition this season. She previously earned the award for the week of Aug. 31-Sept. 6 after helping Stan State earn a 1-1 draw at Point Loma on Sept. 3 and a scoreless draw against Dominican on Sept. 6. Mujica recorded nine saves, a .900 save percentage and a 0.50 goals-against average during that two-match stretch.
Mujica becomes the first Stan State women's soccer player to earn CCAA Defensive Player of the Week honors twice in the same season since the conference began recognizing separate offensive and defensive players in 2022.
She is also the first CCAA women's soccer player to accomplish the feat since Cal Poly Pomona's Liberty Ortiz earned the award twice during the 2025 season, for the weeks of Sept. 1-7 and Nov. 3-7.
Mujica's recognition adds to Stan State's history of success in the CCAA women's soccer weekly awards. The Warriors have earned 30 Player of the Week honors all-time, the second-most in conference history behind Cal Poly Pomona's 32. Stan State has also collected 19 Defensive Player of the Week honors. Mujica is one of two Stan State women's soccer players to earn a CCAA weekly honor this season.
Aliah Avila was named the FloCollege/CCAA Offensive Player of the Week for Sept. 21-27.
