Stan State Athletics has seven events on the schedule this week, beginning with men's golf competing Monday and Tuesday at the RCA Electric Fall Invitational in Monterey. Women's soccer travels to San Francisco State on Friday at noon before volleyball opens a two-match home weekend against No. 10 Cal Poly Pomona at 5 p.m. for Mental Health Awareness Night. The Warriors return to Fitzpatrick Arena Saturday at 2 p.m. to host Cal State LA for Dig Pink.
The week concludes Sunday at Warrior Stadium with a soccer doubleheader against UC Merced, beginning with the men at 11 a.m. followed by the women at 2 p.m.
Women's Cross Country Remains No. 11 Nationally
Stan State remains No. 11 in the USTFCCCA NCAA Division II National Coaches' Poll released Sept. 30, receiving 159 points. The Warriors, who are also No. 2 in the West Region for the third consecutive week, are one of two West Region teams ranked among the nation's top 11. The next USTFCCCA national poll will be released Oct. 6.
Stan State returns to competition Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Bronco Invitational in Sunnyvale, with the women's race scheduled for 9:30 a.m.
Women's Soccer Rebounds with Shutout Victory at Cal State East Bay
Stan State split its two CCAA matches, falling 4-0 to Cal State San Bernardino before responding with a 2-0 road victory over Cal State East Bay on Sunday.
Alexi Ochoa and
Karissa Franco scored against East Bay, while
Mandy Thao recorded two assists and
Olivia Maragos added an assist.
Zara Mujica made nine saves over the weekend, including a shutout Sunday. Stan State is 5-3-2 overall and 4-2 in CCAA play.
Maragos leads the Warriors with four goals and 11 points, while
Aliah Avila has three goals and eight points. Thao leads Stan State with four assists, and Mujica has 46 saves and four shutouts. The Warriors are in second place in the CCAA with 14 points, just two points behind conference-leading Cal State San Bernardino (4-0-2). Stan State travels to San Francisco State Friday at noon before hosting UC Merced Sunday at 2 p.m. at Warrior Stadium.
Men's Golf Returns to Action at RCA Electric Fall Invitational
Stan State, which is receiving votes in the latest Bushnell/Golfweek Division II Coaches' Poll released by the Golf Coaches Association of America, returns to the course Monday and Tuesday at the RCA Electric Fall Invitational in Monterey. The Warriors opened the season with a second-place finish at the Wildcat Classic, shooting a school-record 34-under-par 830. Their second-round 271 also set a program record for the lowest team round.
Mason Montgomery led Stan State with a sixth-place finish at 9-under 207, while
Riley Kirk tied for 11th and
Carson Diaz,
Ricky Sullivan and
Ryan Giardino each tied for 13th.
The RCA Electric Fall Invitational begins Monday at 8:30 a.m. and concludes Tuesday with play beginning at 7:30 a.m. in Monterey.
Men's Soccer Earns Road Draw at Cal State East Bay
Stan State went 0-1-1 in CCAA play during the weekend, falling 1-0 to No. 6 Cal State San Bernardino before earning a 1-1 draw at Cal State East Bay.
Adrian Yepez scored against East Bay off an assist from
Jose Tizoc, while
Dylan Isasi made six saves. The Warriors are 2-5-5 overall and 0-3-3 in CCAA play.
Alexis Cervantes leads Stan State with six goals and 12 points, while Yepez has three goals and a team-high four assists. Isasi has 39 saves and two shutouts. The Warriors have three points in the CCAA standings and are five points out of a tournament berth with six matches remaining. Stan State hosts UC Merced, which is tied for fifth with nine points, Sunday at 11 a.m. at Warrior Stadium.
Volleyball Returns Home for Pair of CCAA Matches
Stan State dropped road matches at San Francisco State and Cal State East Bay to move to 5-9 overall and 1-4 in CCAA play.
Fallon Freeman led the Warriors with 31 kills while hitting .325 during the weekend, while
Reagan Wilkerson totaled 70 assists and
Rylee Szyszka recorded 33 digs.
Emily Meyer leads Stan State with 124 kills, Wilkerson has 324 assists,
Leah Mendoza has 148 digs,
Lauren Gonzales leads with 17 service aces and
Lauren Hamilton has a team-high 51 blocks. The Warriors are tied for 11th in the CCAA standings with Chico State and UC Merced at 1-4. The top seven teams advance to the CCAA Tournament during the week of Nov. 10.
Stan State hosts No. 10 Cal Poly Pomona Friday at 5 p.m. for Mental Health Awareness Night and Cal State LA Saturday at 2 p.m. for Dig Pink.
Men's Cross Country Ranked No. 9 in West Region
Stan State is ranked No. 9 in the USTFCCCA West Region rankings released Sept. 29. The Warriors are coming off a third-place finish at the Kim Duyst Twilight, where they were the top NCAA Division II team in the 10-team field. The next regional rankings will be released Oct. 6.
Stan State returns to competition Oct. 17 at the Bronco Invitational in Sunnyvale, with the men's race scheduled for 8:45 a.m.
Women's Tennis Opens Fall Season at Dominican Hidden Duals
Stan State opened its 2026-27 season with two days of singles and doubles competition against Dominican and Menlo at the Dominican Hidden Duals in San Rafael.
Emi Mikami led the Warriors with a 3-0 singles record, dropping just 11 games across her three victories.
Nica Sobrapena went 2-1 in singles during her first competition as a Warrior, while
Abbigail Mulick, Katrine Damkjær and
Alessandra Del Pino Carvajal also earned singles victories during the weekend.
Stan State returns to competition Oct. 15-18 at the ITA Regionals at the Haak Tennis Complex in Fresno.
Warrior Basketball Just Around the Corner
The 2026-27 Stan State basketball seasons are quickly approaching. Women's basketball gets an early start with three Division I exhibition games, beginning Oct. 28 at Sacramento State before visiting Fresno State on Oct. 30 and Cal State Bakersfield on Nov. 3. The Warriors play their first regular-season game Nov. 9 at Dominican before making their Fitzpatrick Arena debut Nov. 24 against Jessup.
Men's basketball opens Nov. 13 against Jessup in Rocklin as part of the PacWest/CCAA Crossover and faces Dominican the following day. The Warriors make their home debut Nov. 20-21 when they host the Stanislaus State Crossover Classic, facing Saint Martin's on Friday and Seattle Pacific on Saturday. Both Stan State teams begin CCAA play Dec. 3 at Cal State San Bernardino.
