Three Warriors Earn D2 West Coast Challenge All-Tournament Honors

TURLOCK, Calif. — Stan State softball had three players earn D2 West Coast Challenge All-Tournament Team honors following a 3–2 weekend at Rosetta Canyon Sports Park in Lake Elsinore. The Warriors opened the D2 West Coast Challenge with wins over Western Oregon (8–6) and Biola (4–2) on Friday, before earning a final-day victory over Lubbock Christian (6–5) on Sunday. Katelyn Bridgeman, Ava Montesdeoca, and Alexis Camberos were recognized for their standout performances against a strong field of regional and national competition during the early-season tournament.

Katelyn Bridgeman turned in a strong all-around performance across all five games of the tournament. She went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI in the opening win over Biola, added two hits and two runs scored against Western Oregon, and recorded a three-hit performance with two RBI versus Azusa Pacific. Bridgeman finished the weekend batting .421 with eight hits, six runs scored, four RBI, and two doubles, while also playing flawless defense with a 1.000 fielding percentage and throwing out three runners.

Ava Montesdeoca delivered consistent production in every game of the challenge. She recorded multi-hit performances against Biola, Western Oregon, and Concordia Irvine, and drove in a run against Azusa Pacific. Montesdeoca closed the tournament with a hit, a run scored, and a walk in the final-day win over Lubbock Christian, finishing the weekend batting .500 with eight hits and six runs scored while committing no defensive errors.

Alexis Camberos played a pivotal role in the circle for Stan State throughout the weekend. She earned the win against Western Oregon after throwing 6.1 innings and allowing just one earned run, then returned with a relief appearance versus Concordia Irvine. Camberos closed the tournament with 1.2 scoreless innings and a save in the 6–5 victory over Lubbock Christian. She finished the challenge with 12.1 innings pitched, a 1.70 ERA, two wins, and a save.

The D2 West Coast Challenge was won by Cal State East Bay, which finished the tournament 5–0, while Colorado Christian (5–0) and Cal State San Marcos (4–0) shared runner-up honors. Jillian Albayati of Cal State Monterey Bay was named Tournament MVP, and Marissa Quintero of Cal State East Bay earned Tournament Most Outstanding Pitcher recognition.

Stan State will return home to host the six-team Stan State Invitational this Thursday through Saturday, February 12–15, at Warrior Softball Field. The Warriors will open the tournament against Dominican on Thursday at 2:00 p.m., face Central Washington on Friday at 11:30 a.m. and again on Saturday at 7:00 p.m., and close the weekend on Sunday with games against Saint Martin's at 9:00 a.m. and Menlo at 2:00 p.m. No. 17 Cal State East Bay will also be among the teams participating in the Stan State Invitational.
