SAN MARCOS, Calif. — Stan State dropped both games of Saturday's CCAA doubleheader at Cal State San Marcos, falling 12-0 in game one and 13-0 in game two at Dennis A. Pugh Field.
The Warriors moved to 15-17 overall and 6-9 in conference play, while Cal State San Marcos improved to 20-6 overall and 7-4 in the CCAA.
Cal State San Marcos set the tone early in the opener, scoring three runs in the first inning and adding four in the third and two in the fourth to build a 9-0 lead. The Cougars added three more runs in the eighth to secure the shutout.Â
Rocco Gurrola (1-2) took the loss in game one, allowing nine runs (eight earned) over 3.1 innings. Ben Pernetti (1-2) earned the win, tossing 7.0 shutout innings while allowing five hits.
Stan State threatened in the third inning of game one, loading the bases with two outs, but was unable to capitalize. The Warriors finished with seven hits, led by
Eric Perez, who went 2-for-3 with a double.
In game two, the Cougars struck quickly again, scoring two runs in the first inning before erupting for five runs in the second and six in the third to take a 13-0 advantage.
Payton Hawkinson (1-3) was charged with the loss, allowing seven runs (five earned) in 1.2 innings. Jack Clark (3-1) earned the win for Cal State San Marcos after tossing 5.1 shutout innings with seven strikeouts.
Cal State San Marcos was powered offensively by Canon King and Zech Samayoa, who each hit home runs during the Cougars' big third inning.
Stan State was limited to four hits in game two, with
AJ Carter,
Eli Hancock,
Shane Callison, and
Chase Wilson each recording one. Callison had the Warriors' lone extra-base hit with a double.
Herman Luna provided a bright spot out of the bullpen, tossing 3.1 scoreless innings while allowing just three hits and striking out four.
Cal State San Marcos totaled 32 hits across the two games.

CCAA Standings
Cal Poly Pomona leads the CCAA at 9-5 (.643), followed by Cal State San Marcos at 7-4 (.636). Cal State Monterey Bay and Cal State East Bay are tied at 6-4 (.600), while Cal State San Bernardino sits at 7-5 (.583). Cal State LA is 6-8 (.429), with Stan State seventh at 6-9 (.400). Chico State and Cal State Dominguez Hills round out the standings at 5-9 (.357). With three conference games still in progress Saturday—Cal State Dominguez Hills at Cal Poly Pomona, Chico State at Cal State LA, and Cal State Monterey Bay at Cal State East Bay—the standings remain fluid heading into Sunday's series finales. The top five teams at the end of the regular season on May 2 will advance to the CCAA Baseball Championship Tournament, set for May 6–9 in San Bernardino.

After a week off, Stan State returns to action on the road at Cal State San Bernardino for a four-game set beginning Friday, April 10 at 3 p.m. at Fiscalini Field, which will also serve as the site of the 2026 CCAA Baseball Championship Tournament. The series continues with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 11 at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m., and concludes on Sunday, April 12 at 11 a.m.
The Warriors then return home to host Chico State beginning Friday, April 17 at 6 p.m., followed by a Saturday doubleheader (1 p.m. and 4 p.m.) and a Sunday finale at 12 p.m.
Stan State continues its homestand the following weekend, hosting Cal State Dominguez Hills beginning Friday, April 24 at 6 p.m. in Turlock, with a Saturday doubleheader on April 25 at 1 p.m. and the series finale on Sunday. Friday's opener will be Blue Chip Sports Sponsorship Night, while Sunday will be Senior Day with pregame recognition scheduled for approximately 11:30 a.m.
Stan State will close out the regular season on the road at Cal State Monterey Bay from April 30 through May 2 in Seaside.
