Tennis Season Concludes at PacWest Championships, with Win Over Dominican

SURPRISE, Ariz. – Stan State women's tennis closed out the 2026 season on a high note Friday afternoon, defeating Dominican 4-1 in the seventh-place match at the PacWest Championships at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Club.

The Warriors controlled the match from the start, sweeping all three doubles courts to secure the opening point. Emma Yu and Abbigail Mulick set the tone with a dominant 6-0 win at No. 1 doubles, while Parker Orlando and Katrine Damkjær followed with a 6-1 victory at No. 2. Maiah White and Emi Mikami completed the doubles sweep at No. 3, giving Stan State early momentum.

Stan State carried that energy into singles play, where Yu continued her strong performance at the top of the lineup. She earned a 6-3, 7-6 win at No. 1 singles, holding off a late push in the second set to secure a key point.

Orlando added another point at No. 4 with a straight-set 6-3, 6-2 victory, while Mikami sealed the match at No. 6, earning a 6-0, 6-2 win to clinch the 4-1 result.

Dominican picked up its lone point at No. 2 singles, while other matches were left unfinished once Stan State reached the four-point threshold.

The win marked the third meeting between the two teams this season, with the Warriors taking two of three matchups.

Season Reflection

With the victory, Stan State finishes the season with a 7-9 overall record and a 7-6 mark in PacWest play, earning a postseason berth and competing in the conference championships.

The Warriors showed steady growth throughout the season, developing a clear identity built on depth across the lineup and the ability to compete in tight matches. The team's progress was highlighted by a signature 4-3 win over then-No. 11 Hawai'i Pacific, as well as multiple closely contested matches against conference opponents.

Friday's match also marked the final collegiate appearances for seniors Emma Yu and Maiah White. Yu anchored the top of the lineup throughout her career, while White provided consistency in the lower courts, both playing key roles in guiding a young team through conference play and into the postseason.

Stan State closes the 2026 season with momentum and valuable experience, providing a strong foundation as the program continues to build moving forward.
