TURLOCK, Calif. – Stan State women's tennis dropped a 5-2 decision to No. 26 Fresno Pacific on Thursday afternoon at the Stan State Tennis Courts.
The Sunbirds secured the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 and carried that momentum into singles play, picking up victories at the top three courts to take control of the dual.
Stan State found success in the middle of the lineup, where Parker Orlando earned a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 4 singles, continuing her strong play in conference matches. Maiah White also battled at No. 5, pushing her match to a third-set tiebreak after splitting the first two sets and winning set number three 10-4.
Despite the result, the Warriors once again showed competitiveness in extended rallies and physical matches, particularly in the middle courts where they have consistently found production throughout the season.
Stan State now turns its full attention to Saturday's PacWest matchup at Dominican, a rematch of a tightly contested 4-3 victory earlier this season in Turlock.
In that meeting, the Warriors relied on depth across the lineup, securing four singles points to overcome a doubles deficit. Katrine Damkjær, Parker Orlando, and Maiah White each delivered key wins in the middle of the lineup, a formula that has continued to define Stan State's success in conference play.
Dominican has shown improvement since that match, particularly in the middle courts with players such as Kaylee Lopez and Deepalakshmi Vanaraja competing in close sets and extended matches. The Penguins will look to make adjustments in the rematch, while Stan State aims to build off its established identity.
For the Warriors, the path forward remains clear. Establishing early momentum and continuing to control the middle and lower courts will be critical as they look to bounce back and secure another conference win.
With postseason positioning continuing to take shape in the PacWest standings, Saturday's matchup presents an important opportunity for Stan State to respond and maintain its place among the top teams in the conference.
First serve is set for 12:00 p.m. in San Rafael.
