CLEVELAND, Ohio--- The Division II Athletics Directors Association (D2 ADA) has announced the 2025-26 recipients of its Academic Achievement Awards, honoring student-athletes for their excellence in the classroom at the NCAA Division II level. Among the honorees, 62 Stan State student-athletes earned recognition for their outstanding academic achievements during the 2025-26 academic year.

The Academic Achievement Awards, now in their 19th year, recognize the academic accomplishments of student-athletes competing in NCAA Division II championship-sponsored sports. More than 21,000 student-athletes from 179 institutions were recognized in 2025-26. Since the inception of the awards program, 211,256 student-athletes have been recognized.

Stan State competes in 12 of the 14 sports sponsored by the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). Additionally, women's tennis competes in the PacWest Conference while women's indoor track & field competes as an independent.

Samuel Villanueva earned Third Team Academic All-America honors from College Sports Communicators (CSC), becoming the second Stan State men's soccer student-athlete to receive the distinction. Tyler Tipton previously earned Second Team Academic All-America honors in 2023-24. Aliah Avila of women's soccer was named a United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-American, while Jared Sawyer of baseball and Teagan Irish of volleyball were recognized as Stan State's Male and Female Scholar-Athletes of the Year, respectively. Makeila Yancey of women's soccer and Samuel Villanueva of men's soccer received the CCAA Dr. Hal Charnofsky Memorial Awards, and women's tennis captured the department's Academic Team Award.

To be eligible for the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Award, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher, complete a minimum of two years (four semesters) of college-level coursework at a two- or four-year institution and be an active member of an intercollegiate athletic team during the most recent academic year.

"We're proud to recognize more than 21,000 deserving student-athletes from 179 institutions, reflecting the tremendous dedication within our division — not only in athletics, but in the classroom as well. This year's submissions, from both individuals and schools, serve as a testament to the Division II way. Thanks to the administrators who nominated these outstanding individuals, and much-deserved congratulations to all this year's recipients."

Warrior teams continued to earn national academic recognition during the 2025-26 academic year. Men's soccer and women's soccer received United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Awards, with the women's program earning the distinction for the 20th consecutive season. Volleyball earned the AVCA Team Academic Award for the fourth consecutive year, baseball received the ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award for the fifth straight year, men's basketball garnered its third consecutive NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, men's golf earned the GCAA PLATFORM Golf Team Academic Award, Stan State's men's and women's cross country programs received USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honors, the women's track & field team earned USTFCCCA NCAA Division II All-Academic Team recognition, and women's tennis was recognized as an ITA All-Academic Team.

Individually, seven Warriors were named to the NABC Honors Court in Daniel Ameyaw, Jason Cibull, Lloyd French, Donjae Lindsey, Tahjae Ordonio, Jordan Smith and Jason Zimmer. Chase Bird and Riley Kirk were named GCAA Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars. Eight members of the women's tennis program earned ITA Scholar-Athlete recognition in Katrine Damkjær, Alessandra Del Pino Carvajal, Emi Mikami, Abbigail Mulick, Parker Orlando, Megan Schweitzer, Maiah White and Emma Yu. All eight Warriors also were named to the Academic All-PacWest Conference Team. Annie Wild, Nina Furtado, Bela Moreno, Jacqueline Sanchez-Silva and Izzy Soto earned USTFCCCA Women's Cross Country All-Academic honors, Mason Oliveira was recognized as a USTFCCCA Men's Cross Country All-Academic honoree, and Crystal Hernandez, Stevie Holguin, Mila Real and Annie Wild earned USTFCCCA NCAA Division II All-Academic Athlete honors.

A total of 28 Warriors were inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society, while numerous student-athletes earned Academic All-District recognition and 47 Warriors were selected to the CCAA Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll.

The Warriors also earned national recognition in competition during the 2025-26 academic year. Gerardo Flores and Ian Reis were named United Soccer Coaches First Team All-Americans, Samuel Villanueva earned D2CCA First Team and United Soccer Coaches Second Team All-America honors, Angel Ruiz-Hernandez garnered United Soccer Coaches Second Team and D2CCA Third Team All-America recognition, and Emmanuel Duran was selected to the United Soccer Coaches Third Team. Annie Wild earned All-America honors in women's cross country and women's indoor track & field, while Crystal Hernandez, Alexis Nino, Mila Real and Izzy Soto also received indoor track & field All-America recognition.
