TURLOCK, Calif.---Stan State men's golf opens its 2026-27 season Monday at the Wildcat Classic at Peach Tree Country Club in Marysville. The season-opening tournament is the first of nine regular-season events on the Warriors' 2026-27 schedule.
The two-day Wildcat Classic, hosted by Chico State, begins at 8 a.m. Monday, Sept. 14, and concludes Tuesday, Sept. 15.
WILDCAT CLASSIC
Stan State will be part of a 12-team field at Peach Tree Country Club that includes host Chico State, Cal State East Bay, Cal State Monterey Bay, Cal State San Marcos, Jessup, Menlo, Oregon Tech, Sacramento State, Simpson, Southern Oregon and Vanguard.
Five CCAA programs will compete in the season opener with Stan State joined by Chico State, Cal State East Bay, Cal State Monterey Bay and Cal State San Marcos. The field also includes NCAA Division I Sacramento State.
Representing the Warriors in the team lineup will be Carson Diaz, Mason Montgomery, Ryan Giardino, Ricky Sullivan and Riley Kirk. Mitchell Katz will compete as an individual.
Competition is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. Monday and Tuesday. Live results from the Wildcat Classic, along with collegiate golf rankings, are available through Clippd at scoreboard.clippd.com.
WARRIOR RETURNERS
Stan State returns three golfers from last season in seniors Carson Diaz and Ricky Sullivan and junior Riley Kirk.
Kirk led the returners with a 74.7 scoring average over 29 rounds in 2025-26. He recorded two top-15 finishes, highlighted by an 11th-place showing at the Chico State Wildcat Classic at seven-under par. Kirk also finished 13th at the CCAA Championships at four-over and posted two top-20 finishes during the season.
Diaz averaged 75.3 over 29 rounds last season and posted three top-25 finishes. His best finish came at the CCAA Championships, where he placed 20th at seven-over. He also finished 21st at the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational and 24th at the Coyote Classic.
Sullivan averaged 75.5 over 24 rounds while competing in nine events during the 2025-26 season. His best finish came at the Chico State Wildcat Classic, where he placed 25th at one-under par.
The three returners are joined by juniors Ryan Giardino and Luke Hyland and sophomores Sinjin Armstrong, Mitchell Katz and Mason Montgomery on head coach Brandon Christianson's eight-player roster.
ACADEMIC HONORS
Kirk earned several academic honors during the 2025-26 academic year. He was named a Cobalt GCAA All-America Scholar and earned Academic All-District honors while also receiving the D2ADA Academic Achievement Award and being named to the CCAA Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll. He was also named to the Stan State Department of Athletics Honor Roll in Fall 2025. Diaz earned Stan State Department of Athletics Honor Roll recognition in Spring 2026. The Stan State men's golf program also earned the GCAA PLATFORM Team Academic Award.
FALL SCHEDULE
The Wildcat Classic begins a three-tournament fall schedule for the Warriors. Following the season opener, Stan State will make two trips to the Monterey Peninsula in October.
The Warriors compete at the RCA Electric Fall Invitational, Oct. 5-6, at TPC Monterey Bay in Monterey before closing the fall at the Otter Invitational, Oct. 12-13, at Bayonet & Black Horse in Seaside.
SPRING SCHEDULE
Stan State returns to competition Feb. 15-16 at the CSUDH Invite at Shadow Hills Country Club in Indio.
The Warriors will compete three times in March, beginning with Cal State East Bay's Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout, March 8-9, at Corica Park in Alameda. Stan State then heads to Beaumont for the Coyote Classic, March 22-23, at Oak Valley Golf Club before traveling to Arizona for the Wyoming Cowboy Classic, March 29-30, at We-Ko-Pa Golf Club in Fort McDowell.
52ND HANNY STANISLAUS INVITATIONAL
Stan State returns home to host the 52nd Hanny Stanislaus Invitational, April 12-13, at Turlock Golf & Country Club. The annual tournament will serve as the Warriors' final regular-season event before postseason competition.
POSTSEASON
The 2027 CCAA Men's Golf Championship is scheduled for April 19-21 at La Purisima Golf Course in Lompoc.
The NCAA Division II South Central/West Regional will be held May 6-8 at Dominion Country Club in San Antonio, Texas, with the NCAA Division II National Championship scheduled for May 17-21 at PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
