Stan State Athletics begins CCAA soccer competition this week while men's golf opens its fall season and volleyball continues conference play on the road. Men's golf tees off Monday and Tuesday at the Wildcat Classic, while the Warrior men's and women's soccer teams open CCAA play with a home doubleheader against Cal State Monterey Bay on Friday, with the women kicking off at 4 p.m. and the men at 7 p.m. Volleyball travels to Chico State for a 5 p.m. match on Saturday. The week concludes Sunday with another CCAA soccer doubleheader at Warrior Stadium against Cal State Dominguez Hills, beginning with the women at 11 a.m. followed by the men at 2 p.m.

No. 12 Women's Cross Country Captures Kim Duyst Twilight Title
No. 12 Stan State captured its second consecutive Kim Duyst Twilight team championship Saturday at River Oaks Golf Course, scoring 22 points to finish 11 points ahead of NCAA Division I UC Santa Barbara. Stevie Holguin won the individual title in 20:41.4 for her first collegiate victory at Stan State and led the Warriors for the second consecutive meet. Kekaihulali Halpern placed third (20:51.9), Annie Wild fourth (21:00.3) and Natalie Arriaza fifth (21:05.7), while Izzy Soto completed the scoring five in ninth (21:41.7), giving Stan State all five scorers among the top nine.

Stan State will have nearly a month away from competition before returning to San Francisco for the SF State Invitational on Friday, Oct. 9, at Speedway Meadows.

Men's Soccer Finishes Non-Conference Play at 2-2-2
Stan State went 1-0-1 last week to finish non-conference play at 2-2-2. Alexis Cervantes scored twice and Colin Davis added his first goal of the season in Thursday's 3-3 draw with Hawai'i Pacific. Jose Ponce recorded two assists, while Gerardo Flores and Jose Tizoc each added one. The Warriors followed with a 2-0 shutout of Dominican on Saturday behind goals from Hugo Canedo and Emmanuel Duran and five saves from Dylan Isasi. Leo Avalos and Duran assisted Canedo's goal, while Adrian Yepez assisted Duran's goal.

Cervantes leads the Warriors with five goals, Yepez has a team-high four assists and Isasi has recorded 19 saves while playing all 540 minutes in goal. The Warriors open CCAA play at home against Cal State Monterey Bay on Friday, Sept. 18, at 7 p.m. and Cal State Dominguez Hills on Sunday, Sept. 20, at 2 p.m. Both matches will be streamed on FloCollege with Kyle Morrison on the call.

Men's Cross Country Finishes Third at Kim Duyst Twilight
Stan State finished third out of 10 teams at the Kim Duyst Twilight on Saturday at River Oaks Golf Course and was the top NCAA Division II team in the field. The Warriors scored 51 points, finishing just two points behind runner-up CSUN and 10 behind champion UC Santa Barbara. Jackson Oliveira finished second overall and was the top collegiate runner with an 8K time of 24:05.5, while Mason Oliveira placed fourth in 24:29.6. Guardave Pandher gave Stan State three runners in the top 12 with a 12th-place finish in 24:52.1. It marked the second consecutive meet that Jackson and Mason were the first two Warriors across the finish line.

Women's Soccer Opens CCAA Play with Two at Home
Stan State enters CCAA play with a 1-1-2 record after being off from official competition this past week. The Warriors were ranked No. 10 in last week's United Soccer Coaches West Region rankings and are unbeaten in their last three matches, including a 2-0 victory over Central Washington and consecutive draws against Point Loma (1-1) and Dominican (0-0). Aliah Avila leads Stan State with two goals and four points, while Olivia Maragos has a goal and an assist. Goalkeeper Zara Mujica has recorded two shutouts while allowing just three goals in four matches, posting a 0.75 goals-against average and an .850 save percentage.

The Warriors open CCAA play with a pair of matches at Warrior Stadium this weekend, hosting Cal State Monterey Bay on Friday, Sept. 18, at 4 p.m. before facing Cal State Dominguez Hills on Sunday, Sept. 20, at 11 a.m. Both matches will be streamed on FloCollege with Kyle Morrison on the call.

Volleyball Drops Pair of Five-Set Matches to Open CCAA Play
Stan State dropped a pair of five-set matches on the road to open CCAA play, falling at Cal Poly Humboldt on Thursday and Cal State Dominguez Hills on Saturday to move to 3-6 overall and 0-2 in conference play. Five of the Warriors' first nine matches have gone five sets, with Stan State 1-4 in those contests. Maggie Olson led Stan State with 12 kills while hitting .370 at Humboldt, while Ireland Avalos recorded 26 assists and 11 digs for a double-double. Against Dominguez Hills, Lauren Gonzales had 13 kills and 12 digs, Avalos finished with 13 assists and 15 digs, and Rylee Szyszka added 11 assists and 19 digs as all three recorded double-doubles.

Through nine matches, Gonzales leads Stan State with 91 kills, Reagan Wilkerson has a team-high 193 assists and Leah Mendoza leads with 126 digs. Lauren Hamilton is hitting a team-best .340 and leads the Warriors with 38 total blocks. Stan State returns to action Saturday, Sept. 19, with a 5 p.m. CCAA match at Chico State.

Men's Golf Opens 2026-27 Season at Wildcat Classic
Stan State men's golf begins its 2026-27 season Monday and Tuesday at the Wildcat Classic at Peach Tree Country Club in Marysville. The Warriors will compete in a 12-team field that includes CCAA opponents Chico State, Cal State East Bay, Cal State Monterey Bay and Cal State San Marcos along with NCAA Division I Sacramento State. Carson Diaz, Mason Montgomery, Ryan Giardino, Ricky Sullivan and Riley Kirk will represent Stan State in the team lineup, while Mitchell Katz will compete as an individual. Competition begins at 8 a.m. both days. The Wildcat Classic is the first of nine regular-season tournaments for the Warriors and begins a three-event fall schedule.

Fall Season Tickets Available for Warrior Athletics
Season tickets for the 2026 fall season are available for Warrior Athletics home events. Family passes are $120 and include admission for two adults and up to four children, while individual season tickets are $60. Single-game tickets are $12 for adults and $7 for children ages 5-17 and seniors ages 55 and older. Stan State Athletics will be cashless for all ticket purchases during the 2026-27 academic year.
