TURLOCK, Calif.--- Stan State women's soccer outshot Dominican 14-7 and put eight attempts on goal, but the Warriors and Penguins battled to a scoreless draw Sunday evening in Stan State's 2026 home opener at Warrior Stadium.
Zara Mujica made two saves to record her second shutout of the season as the Warriors moved to 1-1-2. Dominican moved to 3-1-1.
First Half
Stan State created the majority of the opportunities during a scoreless opening 45 minutes, outshooting Dominican 8-3.
Mandy Thao produced the Warriors' first shot on goal in the 14th minute, but Dominican goalkeeper Michelle Salas Viniegra made the save.
Lorena Moreno forced another save in the 29th minute before
Olivia Maragos put an attempt on frame in the 37th. At the other end, Mujica stopped Brisa Navarrete's attempt in the 17th minute as the teams went into halftime tied 0-0.
Second Half
The Warriors had an opportunity to take the lead less than two minutes after halftime. Stan State was awarded a penalty kick, but Salas Viniegra stopped
Aliah Avila's attempt at the 46:37 mark to keep the match scoreless. Stan State continued to create opportunities in the second half.
Olivia Kamm put a shot on goal in the 68th minute before Avila forced another save from Salas Viniegra in the 83rd. Maragos followed with a shot on goal in the 87th minute, but Salas Viniegra made the stop.
Dominican threatened in the closing minutes, but Mujica stopped Ysabella Belandres in the 85th minute. The Warriors' defense kept the Penguins off the scoreboard the rest of the way to secure their second consecutive draw. Stan State finished with a 14-7 advantage in shots and an 8-2 edge in shots on goal. Avila led the Warriors with three shots, all on goal, while Maragos also recorded three attempts with two on frame. Salas Viniegra made eight saves for Dominican.
