Warrior Track
Overview of Warrior Stadium
WARRIOR STADIUM (Al Brenda Track) FACTS
The jewel of Cal State Stanislaus facilities, Warrior Stadium is a part of the $18 million Student Recreation Complex, which opened in August of 2009.

The student recreation complex also includes a fitness center, soccer practice fields, track and field throwing fields and the intramural soccer fields.

For maximum access, the Warrior Stadium and the Student Recreation Center is located in the northeast corner of campus at the corner of Geer Road and Christoffersen Parkway. [See more information on the Student Recreation Center]

Arguably the best soccer/track complex in the California Collegiate Athletic Association, Warrior Stadium and Al Brenda Track has hosted numerous championship events including the 2011 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships and all but one CCAA Soccer Championship tournament since 2009.

The stadium was also the home site of the San Jose Earthquakes' PDSL summer league games in 2014 and hosted the MLS Earthquakes' friendly versus Sacramento Republic FC.

Inaugural Season
The stadium opened in August of 2009 and played host to its first event of any kind on August 22 during a women's soccer scrimmage against a team of alums. The first regular season collegiate contest was a few days later, on Aug. 27, a women's soccer match versus Hawaii Hilo.

The University held an official celebration and grand opening of the Student Recreation Center and Warrior Stadium, on Sept. 18, 2009 when the Warriors host UC San Diego in both men's and women's soccer. The women's game attendance of 1,876, was set as the stadium attendance record.

Al Brenda Track
Prior to the opening of the Stadium, and during the construction phases, the track portion of the facility was dedicated to, and named in honor of Al Brenda, the local coaching and athletic legend who died in September 2001.

Brenda distinguished himself as a coach at the high school and college level and also founded what is now Brenda Athletic Clubs. He served as head track and field coach for two years (1976-77) at CSU Stanislaus during a career that included 36 years as a teacher and coach at Ceres High School and as an assistant track and field coach at Modesto Junior College. Brenda started the Ceres Invitational track meet in 1958, and it is still acknowledged as one of the premier events in the state.

National & Regional Exposure in 2011
The year 2011 was a big year for Warrior Stadium.

In the spring, Al Brenda Track at Warrior Stadium hosted the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The three-day event, May 26-28, 2011, attracted more than 1,000 student-athletes and thousands of spectators on site. The championships were also televised via video stream on NCAA.com

Later in the year, during the fall, the Warriors hosted the CCAA Men's & Women's Soccer Championships for the third straight year. This time, the championship games were televised by Comcast Sports regionally.
