Coach Courtney Heiner brings a wealth of experience and a decorated athletic career to the Stanislaus State cross country and track programs. A distinguished alumna of California State University, Stanislaus, Heiner's achievements both on and off the track exemplify her dedication, talent, and commitment to excellence.
As a student-athlete from 2011 to 2014, Heiner became a powerhouse in collegiate track and field. She is a Five-Time All-American and clinched the NCAA Division II National Championship in the Women's Outdoor 1500 meters in 2014. Her exceptional performances set new standards, earning her the distinction of being a Seven-Time Stan State School Record Holder.
In 2014, Heiner's remarkable season was recognized on a national level when she was named the US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Women’s Track West Region Athlete of the Year. The same year, she was honored as the Stan State Female Athlete of the Year, further solidifying her legacy within the university.
Her excellence continued to be acknowledged beyond her collegiate career. In 2015, Heiner received the Sportsmen of Stanislaus Outstanding Athlete Award, celebrating her significant contributions and successes in athletics. Her illustrious career culminated in her induction into the Stan State Hall of Fame in 2020, a testament to her lasting impact on the sport and the university. Heiner also competed professionally for Peninsula Distance Club for seven years before stepping into the role of coaching.
In the fall of 2022, Heiner was hired as an assistant coach at Stanislaus State. In her first season, she played a pivotal role in leading the women's team to victory at the 2022 CCAA Cross Country Championship and the NCAA West Region Championship. Her coaching prowess has also helped develop an All-American in cross country and indoor track, along with several All-CCAA Conference athletes.
As a coach, Heiner leverages her extensive experience and knowledge to inspire and develop the next generation of athletes. Her journey from a standout student-athlete to a respected coach embodies the spirit of perseverance, hard work, and excellence. Prior to being hired at Stanislaus State, Heiner coached at Cordova High School for five years. Heiner hopes to help foster and develop a passion for running for the athletes at Stanislaus State while helping them achieve their highest goals.
