Desmond Madrigal is in his fifth season as an assistant coach with the Stan State men’s soccer program, playing a key role in the team’s resurgence under head coach John Powell.

A Turlock native, Madrigal was a standout defender for the Warriors from 2015 to 2018. He appeared in 57 matches with 46 starts, recording three goals and one assist during his collegiate career.

Following his time at Stan State, Madrigal continued his playing career at a high level, including a professional stint with San Diego 1904 FC of the National Independent Soccer Association in 2021. He made 16 appearances with 12 starts, totaling 1,137 minutes.

In the summer of 2025, Madrigal gained additional coaching experience with Academica SC, further expanding his development on the sidelines.

Madrigal brings valuable playing and local experience to the Stan State coaching staff, helping develop the next generation of Warriors while contributing to the program’s success on and off the field.
