Ryan Vierra, a former professional athlete, joined the Cal State Stanislaus staff as the throws coach in the Fall of 2010.
Between 2008 and 2019, the USATF level 1 coach has since coached 14 NCAA DII All-Americans, 36 USATFCCCA All-Regional athletes, 22 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Conference Champions, 33 All-CCAA athletes, 1 Olympic Trials Qualifier, 4 USATF National Championship Qualifiers, 8 USATF Jr National Qualifiers and 21 school records. Coach Vierra received the 2016 Woman’s West Regional Assistant Throws Coach of the year award.

Prior to his collegiate coach career, Vierra competed professionally in the Scottish Highland Games for 18 years. He won five World Championships, 11 U.S. National Championships and has won 254 US & International Competitions.Â

Vierra attended California State University, Northridge (1990-92). Prior to CSUN, he competed for Modesto Junior College.
A native of the San Juaquin Valley, Vierra resides in Denair with his wife Christina and three daughters Brooke (21), Faith (16) and Cheyenne (15).Â
