Lauren Flowers, a nationally recognized coaching veteran at the NCAA Division II level and Northern California native, is in her third year as the head coach of the Stan State Warrior Volleyball Team. In her first season as the Warriors' head coach in 2022, she led the themr to the winningest season in school history with a 19-10 (.655) overall record. The 19 wins tied for the most in school history. The Warriors finished in sixth place in the CCAA with a 10-8 conference record. They advanced to the CCAA Volleyball Championship Tournament.
Flowers has coached five All-CCAA honorees during her coaching career at Stan State. Gabby Rawson and Alex Byrd each received All-CCAA Honorable Mention honors in 2023. In 2022, three Warriors earned All-CCAA honors. Rawson was a First Team selection while Macky Morris earned Second Team and Byrd was Honorable Mention. Rawson was the CCAA Libero of the Year and an All-Region honoree.
Her team for the second year in a row was named an AVCA All-Academic Team in 2023. During her career at Stan State, the Warriors have also excelled in the classroom with eight Warriors being named to the CSC Academic All-District Team.
Flowers, who hails from Santa Clara in the Bay Area, came to Turlock and Stan State with nearly 10 years of coaching experience in Division II, most recently serving as an assistant at Texas A&M University-Commerce from 2019-21. She also coached at the University of Texas Permian Basin from 2017-19 and earned her master's in educational leadership while serving as an assistant coach at Western New Mexico University from 2015-17.
The Lions were immensely successful while Flowers was on the staff during her three seasons. With the help of Flowers' guidance, the Lions amassed an overall record of 45-23 and received national and regional rankings for multiple weeks in two different years. They had players named All-American on four occasions and collected 15 all-Lone Star Conference awards, including Setter of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year accolades.
Flowers was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association 30 under 30 award program in 2021, a national program recognizing up-and-coming coaching talent at all levels. She also spoke at the 2021 AVCA National Convention as the only Division II coach on a panel titled "Moms who Coach: A Scouting Report to Doing It All (or Almost)." Flowers has long been involved in Division II volleyball, even before she became a coach. She spent her collegiate playing career at Azusa Pacific, always a power at both the NAIA and Division II levels. The Cougars made the transition from the NAIA to NCAA Division II while Flowers was on the team.
Flowers graduated from Azusa Pacific in 2014 with a bachelor's in liberal arts. She earned her master's in educational leadership from Western New Mexico in 2017. She comes to Turlock with her husband and former fellow assistant coach, Steven Flowers, and their two girls, Joy and Micah.
