Stan State head volleyball coach Lauren Flowers hired Maggie Billingsley as the Warriors’ Top Assistant Coach in July of 2023.
Billingsley came to Stan State from Colorado State University Pueblo where she was the assistant coach this past Spring for the Thunderwolves. Prior to being on the Thunderwolves’ staff, Billingsley was on the staff of Western Colorado in Gunnison, Colo. At Western, Billingsley was the assistant coach at later the interim head volleyball coach.
This will be Billingsley’s eighth season of coaching at the intercollegiate level in 2023. The Lemoore, Calif., native also has coached at Holy Names University, Notre Dame de Namur University, and the College of San Mateo.
When she was on staff at Holy Names from 2020 to 2022, Billingsley helped lead the Hawks to the second most wins in program since HNU joined the PacWest Conference in 2012. During her first season on staff at HNU, the Hawks finished in second place in the Northern California Pod and had two players named to the All-NorCal Pod Team.
Billingsley started her coaching career as a graduate assistant at Notre Dame de Namur University in the Fall 2018. She was promoted to the head coach on an interim basis the following season in the Fall 2019. Billingsley helped guide the Argonauts to a victory in her first career match and later to victories over PacWest rivals Dominican and Holy Names. After the 2019 season, she was promoted to head coach in January 2020. Her time as a head coach was short-lived due to the termination of all athletic programs at NDNU in March 2020.
Prior to starting her coaching career, Billingsley was a standout setter for Notre Dame de Namur from 2014 to 2017. The four-year starter holds the school record with 2,958 assists and assists per set with 9.57, ranking ninth in the PacWest history books for both categories. In addition, Billingsley ranked second at NDNU with 99 career service aces which is the 13th best career total in PacWest history.
Billingsley graduated from Notre Dame de Namur in Spring 2018 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology and a Minor in Psychology. She received her Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in Management and Leadership from Holy Names in 2021.
