Danahey was hired in September 2022 as the Senior Communications Specialist. He came to Stanislaus State from Cal Poly Humboldt where he was the Assistant Athletic Director of Athletics for Media Relations from August 2019 to September 2022.
Prior to Cal Poly Humboldt, Danahey was at Concordia University-Portland where he was the Sports Information Director since January 2017. Danahey was the Sports Information Director at San Francisco State University from 2002-2017. He started his career in Sports Information in 1993 at Saint Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, Indiana.
In June 2018, Danahey received his 25-year award from the College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA). Danahey is currently serving as the West Region Representative on the D2SIDA National Board for the second time in his career. He is the National Coordinator for the CoSIDA Academic All-American Committee which he has been a part of for the majority of his career. He has served on a variety committees in CoSIDA including being named to the Special Awards Committee in 2021-22.
He has been the SAAC Advisor for the Athletic Departments during his tenures at Cal Poly Humboldt, Concordia and San Francisco State University.
In 1996, Danahey volunteered as a Press Operations Coordinator for the Centennial Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. During his tenure at Saint Joseph’s College, Danahey worked press operations for the NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Elite Eight Championships in Louisville, Kentucky, and Evansville, Indiana. From 2017-2019, he was the Official Statistician for the Great Northwest Athletic Conference baseball, softball and women’ soccer championships. When he was at San Francisco State, he was the Official Statistician for the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) baseball along with the men and women’s basketball championships.
Danahey received his Bachelors of Science Degree from Rockford College in 1993. He currently resides in Turlock, California.
