ROHNERT PARK --- The CCAA's top defense put on another stop on its opponents on Friday as the Sonoma State Seawolves defeated Cal State Stanislaus 59-44 at Seawolf Gym.

The Seawolves held the Warriors to just 30% shooting from the field and 10% from three-point territory as they improve to 12-2, 6-1 CCAA.  Stanislaus drops to 4-9, 2-5 CCAA with the loss.

Sonoma State, which entered the game allowing just 53.5 points per game, has allowed under 50 points in four of their last five games.

Lysandra Williams led the Warriors with 16 points and seven rebounds. Katie Busi had 10 points and six boards and Shristy Kumar chipped in nine points.

Sonoma State used a 25-9 run in the middle of the first half to turn a 6-4 lead into a 31-13 advantage.  They would not be pressured for the rest of the game as the lead swelled to as many as 23 in the second half.

Chelsey Armacost led the Seawolves on offense, finishing with 14 points, largely from her 8-for-9 performance from the free throw line.  Armacost leads the CCAA in free throw percentage at 85%.

Danae Wellander pitched in with ten points and Olivia Larkin stepped off the bench for seven.

The Warriors will go further north up the state, to Arcata, for a Saturday evening game at Humboldt State.
