CARSON --- Lysandra Williams scored 22 points and the Warriors nailed late free throws as the Cal State Stanislaus women's basketball team picked up its first road victory this season Saturday night.

Christin Gowan's free throws with about a minute left broke the tie and Aleta Stamps nailed two more with four ticks left as Stanislaus beat Cal State Dominguez Hills, 54-50, in the Torodome.

The Warriors earned their first road win of the season as they improved to 5-11 overall and 3-7 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. The Toros, picked in the preseason to win the CCAA, dropped to 9-8 overall and 3-7 in league play after going 0-2 at home this weekend.

The win also snapped a five-game losing streak as the Warriors picked up a split this weekend in Southern California. It was also CSUS head coach Sharon Turner-Dean's first win in Carson.

Williams was 7-for-8 from the field and nailed 7 of her 10 free throw attempts as she picked up her teammates. Katie Busi added eight points and six rebounds with three assists.

Cal State Stanisalus led by as many as 11 points eight minutes into the second half on a pair of Williams free throws. However, CSUDH rallied by getting key baskets off turnovers and Warrior fouls. The Toros went on a 17-6 run to tie the game at 6:50 on a Brigayle Iglehart layup.

Alana Bailey actually gave the Toros a three-point lead minutes later but the Warriors responded by getting a layup from Willliams to cut the lead to one. From that point on, the Warriors got to the line and made five free throws in the late two and a half minutes for the win.

Dominguez Hills was held without a score for the last 3:51 in the game, when Bailey made her bucket for the lead.

Iglehart led the Toros with 19 points and Ennisha Kyles had 10 rebounds.
