TURLOCK --- Shirsty Kumar led all players with 23 points as the Cal State Stanislaus women's basketball team made it two in-a-row as the Warriors defeated Cal State Monterey Bay, 75-64, Saturday night at Warrior Arena.

The back-to-back home conference win was the first for Stanislaus since the 2002-03 season as the Warriors improved to 4-6 overall and 2-2 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

"I am very pleased with our team's effort completing the weekend with two wins," CSUS head coach Sharon Turner-Dean said. "We should a lot of character down the stretch holding off their comeback and extended our lead back up."

After leading by as many as 17 points after a Christin Gowan layup at 8:50 in the second half, the Warrior saw the Otters come back. Cal State Monterey Bay cut the CSUS lead to five at 65-60 with 2:11 left on a three-pointer by Alma Perez. Stanislaus, however, manage to stay ahead and built the margin back up to 11at 75-64 — the final score.

Kumar was 8-for-13 form the field including four treys with 16 of her points coming in the second half. Her 23 point total is just two points off of her career-high set earlier this season at Western Oregon.

Lysandra Williams, who had 21 points Friday night, chipped in 15 points and Christin Gowan added 14 with four assist. Kumar also had five rebounds and five assists. Katie Busi led all players with 12 rebounds.

Cal State Monterey Bay, now 2-9 overall and 1-3 in the CCAA, was led by Dana Andrews with 15 points and Sabrina Jenkins added 13.

Cal State Stanislaus remains at home next weekend with a pair of CCAA games when CSU San Bernardino visits on Friday. CSUS hosts Cal Poly Pomona on Saturday.
